Re: Losing Internet connection with Billion 7800N

Thanks for that help.
I contacted Billion today and they called me back with a suggested setting;
1. Login to the router web configuration page (http://192.168.1.254)
2. Use the username 'admin' and password 'admin' to login.
3. Make sure you are on the 'Basic' menu
4. Click on 'WAN'
5. Change the protocol to 'PPPOE'
6. Change the Encapulation Method to 'LLC/SNAP'
7. Click on 'Apply'
8. Let the router save and reboot and monitor the connection to see if the unit reconnects when a line drops.
Which seems to align with an earlier suggestion.
I will try these settings and see if that helps first.
Ian.

I ran my 7800N on PPPOE for a few weeks playing around with IPv6 and eventually changed back.

Re: Losing Internet connection with Billion 7800N

An update, the router was still connected to the internet this morning, so it seems the settings have worked.
I'm interested in why two wrongs make a right?
I don't confess to be any kind of expert in these things so an explanation in terms I would understand would be great! 🙂
Thanks.
Ian.
