Looking for multi-region DVD / Blu ray player recommendations

It has been several years since I have bought a DVD player - my last purchase 4 years ago was a DVD player that I made multi-region by using the remote to enter a simple code found on a website.
I am now looking for a Blu ray player that can play multi-region DVDs - the Blu-ray disks can be UK specific and not multi-region.
I have spotted this from Richer Sounds - Sony BDPS1100 - the title specifically notes that the DVD playback is multi-region.

I may also buy a spare multi-region DVD player:

Which is also region-free according to the website.
Can anyone indicate how reliable this is likely to be - are both players likely to be multi-region DVD straight out of the box? Does anyone have any experience buying from Richer Sounds?
Can anyone recommend any other multi-region DVD / blu-ray players similar to the ones above (i.e. multi-region out of the box)
Many thanks for any advice.

If they are labeled as multi-region then they will be 'out of box'. I bought our Sony DVD-recorder / HDD as multi-region and has worked pretty much flawlessly with regards to the region bit. Due to a mess up by the Freeview guide people it did make it inoperable for a while with it being stuck on updating the EPG but that's not really anything to do with the DVD part.
That's RPM to you!!

I haven't bought a multi region Blue Ray player so I can't help you with that, but I have bought a few things from Richer Sounds in Sheffield, and I can highly recommend them.

From the look of it, by default that player is not multi-region.
However, there's a fairly trivial method of making it multi-region, if you've got the right remote control.
This is likely what Richer Sounds are doing, as the mutli-region player is £10 more than the single region version.
Now, if you want multi-region Blu-Ray too, this is an option from Multiregion Magic (A good company I've used a few times).
