An interesting video about someone's DIY preparations for an Openreach full fibre installation to a loft space.

Got my DIY ready too. Should have been installed on Tuesday but was a no show.
Conduit laid below surface to garage. Internal conduit run in garage to existing copper feed into lounge point. Hopefully the CSP can go just inside the garage.
Also plan to rerun the satelite feed back through the sub-surface conduit.

Do you have a date for the next installation attempt ?
Since seeing the latest Openreach FTTP rollout plans that got updated October 2026, I've now given up any hope of getting Openreach full fibre where I am in the foreseeable future.
- January 2025, the Openreach build program stated "We’ll be building in this exchange in the future".
- July 2025, Openreach were closing local roads and laying ducting for fibre-optics under the carriageway from one side to the other, but then not installing any cables in the ducts or to any nearby telegraph poles or pavement manholes, despite the status reading "We’ll be building here soon, with services available in the next 12 months".
- March 2026, the status changed back to "We don't have any confirmed plans to build in this area under our major builds programmes", and there was no Openreach activity in the area other than copper line repairs.
- October 2026, now the status says "We’ve finished the main part of our build in this exchange" and the Openreach map says "We've built to most homes and businesses in this area. As of now, we don't have any confirmed plans to build more in this area under our major builds programmes, but we may in the future". This is clearly untrue as using various broadband mapping tools, maybe 2% of homes have WBC FTTP at the very edges of my exchange area, a few businesses located in remote farm buildings appear to have FTTPoD, and none of the telegraph poles in my village have Openreach FTTP CBT pods fitted.
Fortunately my existing SoGEA line has adequate speeds when managed by QoS, but I'd like the FTTP upgrade for increased upload speed, and improved reliability as where I am suffers frequent power cuts and the FTTC cabinet battery dies after about three minutes ! - which is annoying when my home network stays powered for hours using multiple UPSs and laptops fitted with extended capacity batteries.
