I don`t undestand this "need for speed"...
when I click on anything, or put something in the search box, of Firefox, Google, everything seems to come up "instantly"...
so how can anything be faster?
what is the point in it appearing 2 nano seconds sooner on Chrome, rather than FF ?

I'm not talking about nano seconds !
I have found that with recent versions of Firefox pages take ages to load. I've just closed and re-opened FF and it took 15secs to load my homepage.
I then went to BBC News and it took a further 10secs.
With both Chrome (Windows) and Chromium (Linux) both pages load virtually instantly.

Just a thought, but do you have some kind of ad-blocker plugin installed on Firefox that isn't on the other browsers? It could be that it's waiting to get a response from connection attempts to advertising servers that are blocked.
