Re: Computer Freezing

@Champnet

For your information I received a response to my query from the computer suppliers. Good support - just a matter of hours since I emailed them earlier today.

Anyway I've attached a PDF showing their recommendations.

Re: Computer Freezing

Worth a go, gut feeling is a problem with the disk. Has your box froze lately ?

Re: Computer Freezing

@Champnet

It appears to freeze only when I bring it out of hibernation so once today. Now leaving PC on during the day with the monitor switched off. Will either power down or hibernate overnight.

HDDScan doesn't work with my MVME M.2 disk but all other disks are fine.

sfc /scannow found no integrity issuues.

I'll do the memory test tomorrow.

Re: Computer Freezing

@bmc  Does the freeze only happen when the box is brought out of hibernation as I can find no mention of that in your previous posts ? Out of interest why do you use hibernation ?

Re: Computer Freezing

@Champnet

It's only in the past couple of days I've twigged it only happens after coming out of hibernation.

I use hibernation when I'm away from the computer for a couple of hours or overnight. It saves re-starting everything each time. However I suspect I'm going to have to change my ways - leave the computer on during the day but switch off the monitor and power down at night.

I ran the RAM memory test this morning and it came back as a Pass so I'm waiting to hear from the supplier.

Perhaps try CrystalDiskInfo (if the manufacturer doesn't provide their own software).

@TheRoadCrew

Thanks for the suggestion. However it didn't do anything after install so it's been removed from the system.

Re: Computer Freezing

@Champnet

The latest suggestion was to install new drivers for the following (links supplied).

Inter Management Engine Interface

Intel INF installation

Realtec Audio Driver

LAN Driver

3 out of 4 worked. Realtec fell over as it doesn't support Win7. Not a major problem as I bought a new widescreen curved monitor last year that doesn't support Win7 either so sound is provided by external speakers (which still work).

Touch wood but the hibernation test I did worked - it hasn't frozen since. Time will tell if the problem is fixed or not.

Re: Computer Freezing

I've searched and others have had freezing from hibernation.

Two suggestions from the search which might help:

1. Disable Fast Startup: Control Panel->power options->Choose what the power buttons do->Change settings that are currently unavailable->Turn off 'Turn on fast startup'

2. Turn off hybrid sleep: Control Panel->Power options->Edit Plan Settings->Change Advanced power settings->Expand sleep->Set allow hybrid sleep to off.

Maybe one of these will work and allow you to continue to use sleep.

I've no idea if these are on Windows 7 or are for later versions of Windows.
