Cable required

I need about 20 mtrs of very light, very flexible, twin core cable, .. similar to the extremely flexible cable on modern headphones... I don`t want an "extension cable" with the ends already on, ... I need to cut to length for my requirementss.
Not being used for headphones, but a very similar usage, where the lightness and flexibility are the key features.  ( no real voltage or amperage involved ).
Is there a special name/term used for this cable? so I can search for it, or does anyone have any ideas of suppliers

Re: Cable required

sounds like your talking about speaker wire, although no good for high current applications
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.X20m+speaker+...
the price for it depends on which reel you purchase
if your wanting it for an antenna then this would be more suitable
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=20m+speaker+wire&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1...
the exact wire required always depends on the desired use so to be more accurate on offering a suggestion knowing what its for would help immensely Smiley

As mentioned in the o.p.  there is no real voltage or current ( hardly measureable) involved,

That speaker wire  is far to heavy for what I want.. ( I already have 100ft of that as an antenna in the garden).....
the usage is similar to headphones, but I want the excess cable to be flexible and light enough to have a small weight on it, to allow it to disappear below desk level when not in use.. ( similar idea to the old telephone switchboard plug leads)  the cable needs to be really light, as mentioned in the o.p.  similar to the modern headphone cable.
I shall have, at least 10, cables that connect to 10 different items, and each one will be used at various times, requiring that one to be pulled towards the centre of the desk, and keeping the other cables tidy by "disappearing" below the desktop when not in use.  (present setup gets very tangled , and looks awful )

@ Nibiru....  that linky looks as though it might do the job... will have to send off for a metre to see what it is like. !  Thanks.

If you are doing that, have you considered using retractable audio extensions such as this -
          http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Premium-Gold-Retractable-Aux-Jack-Audio-Cable-Lead-For-iPhone-Samsung-iPod...
The cable is very light, and has a built-in spring loaded retractable mechanism which may suit your purpose, and keep things tidy.

Re: Cable required

My experience of those retractable extensions is they last about 3 uses and the wires inside break rendering them useless...

Re: Cable required

Those retractables will give me the same problem... loads of spare cable floating about... and loads of "retractors" needing space on the desktop !... nice thought though ! .. the cable is the right sort of stuff though.....

.
As for getting a metre of that other stuff.....

There is a minimum order value of £35.00. Orders less than this amount will be automatically increased to meet the minimum order value.

Erm.... I don`t think so ! ! ! ...
Will have a look on ebay and see if there is another supplier who is more accomodating ! ! ...

Re: Cable required

the only mogami 2490 I could find listed on the internet came with connectors already attached list of suppliers for that is here http://www.mogami.co.uk/wheretobuy.php I suppose if its what your set on then you can always buy the leads and cut the connectors off to suit your purposes
although there was this listed when searching without the name http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/25m-METRES-TWIN-INDIVIDUALLY-SCREENED-2-CORE-CABLE-AUDIO-VIDEO-MORE-IN-OUR... if your still open to other possibilities
seems like you with buy ultra light heaphone/microphone pre made extensions and adjust them to suit or have to pay an awful lot for what you looking for
then again maybe a local electrical supplies store might be able to get what you want in a more price conscious way  Wink
