BT Openreach Junction Box inside property

Hi, I have just moved into a new flat and have found this bt openreach junction box. I know this is the box into which I need to plug my router but it seems a part is missing. How do I get that part replaced?

The missing bit is the faceplate. Others will tell you what the name (style) of the Master Socket is but I'm not sure you can get OR to replace it easily.

You can however buy a replacement yourself.

In the short term, plug the router into the phone socket shown - this is the "test" socket and is used to bypass any extensions when trying to diagnose problems.

To use the socket you just need a ADSL Microfilter like one of these

That assumes you are not a Full Fibre customer

@VinayO Before I had full fibre I plugged a ADSL filter plugged direct into that test socket for years. Worked fine with my FTTC service. So I wouldn't worry to much tbh.

But if you really want one, I can see some suitable replacements on ebay. There is an entire NTE for about £4 that looks the same and you could just use the bottom bit of that. Look for 'bt faceplate' and NTE5/NTE5A. Avoid the NTE5C which has a curved body and curved faceplate.

I am assuming it is the 'boxy' shaped one from the pictures.

@VinayO As @Dan_the_Van stated, that's the "Test socket" on a BT master socket. Assuming you are not on full fibre (FTTP) in which case that won't even be connected/active you just need a plug-in filter. One is supplied with every router (often two!) and most households have loads of them, unless they've been binned. I have probably a dozen acquired over many decades of internet connectivity. 🤣

If you genuinely don't have one, ask your neighbours.

You can buy filtered faceplates (to do away with the dongle). I think this is suitable but there are others out there. Just remember you'd be after screw type plates and no clip ons.
