Have you seen the slide switch labelled Charge/OTG, presumably either/or, not both similtaneously?

@Baldrick1 Hmm... yes.. I saw t hat on another seller pics ! ! !... so it could be more useful than my current setup.   as you say,.. either/or... but not both at same time... Presumably, that switch disconnects the USB side of the unit, Probably,  this is as a "safety" measure, so that no equipment , mostly, the tablet/phone, is not damaged......

At least it would save me having to unplug and plug up... and could be charging during "quiet use"  when the touch screen could be used..

My only other query relates to the rather strange chargins connection arrangement described in the manual referenced earlier. It will be interesting to see if you get a reply from China.

It did amuse me to read on the sellers page that they will return your £3.89 if you ship the item back to China at your cost within 30 days!

which,.... seems to fit the bill.... however a "similar" device mentioned that it was not a "through" power supply for charging the phone/tablet.   so I have asked the seller for clarification.

Well,  I never got an answer back.... but .... I did "make an offer" and it was accepted, so I ordered it...

On sale price.... £4.67  free postage

Offer price £ 3.25    free postage   .... so not a bad deal really  ! ... will report back when it arrives....

(I noted that there is a 3 port version...  {cheaper price}   I.E.. Only 2 USB ports and 1 OTG port..... but 3 will be good for me..)
