Re: bye bye plus.net

@Jelv - even 100 with a stable connection is more than I had over Xmas & New Year.  I have a teenager with CoD / Halo / Left for Dead withdrawel symptoms!  Sad
And trying to update / configure his new computer has been fun, Not!  Undecided
@Matt - Thanks for all your efforts, pity the BT "Engineers" aren't as diligent or even trained properly!  Crazy  Will let you know how the connection is performing when I get home tonight!  Cheesy

Re: bye bye plus.net

It's still looking very good - an ongoing 10 hour connection with a 1000 profile and a sync speed of 1248. We've asked the team to keep the fault open until we're sure it's resolved though. Let's see how things are tomorrow, but I'm optimistic.

Re: bye bye plus.net

Hi DawnRider,
I've just tested the line and in the 2 hours it's been up there have been 40 errored seconds which isn't too bad - especially given that interleaving is currently turned off. If you're worried then I can put that on, which should pretty much get rid of those - just let me know.
I'm certainly glad that things are now sorted for you, I'll investigate that refund now.
Cheers,
Matt

Re: bye bye plus.net

Thanks Matt, reference the interleaving:
By how much will it affect 'ping' times? or won't we know till we try it? Undecided
If it is turned on and games start to experience lag, can it easily be turned off again? (I have a teenager who will not be impressed if his multiplayer games are greatly affected!) Sad

Re: bye bye plus.net

At a rough guess, you're looking at about an extra 16ms per ping - Bob regularly sees pings of ~35ms with an interleaved line so it shouldn't be that bad, and it's a 24 hour order so easy enough to turn off if you need.
Having said that if the errors aren't too bad at the moment why not leave it off until you think it's needed?

@Matt, I think that's probably best for the moment.  With no drops and no noticeable lag on Xbox Live the boy's happy! Thanks again Matt.  Cool

That's fantastic, thanks very much. Please give us a shout if there's anything else we can help with, or if you decide you do want to enable interleaving and we'll do what we can.

Re: bye bye plus.net

Hi Matt, everything seems to be holding steady now. I think we can definately leave out the interleaving at the moment to keep the ping times as they are thanks. Stats since last re-sync:

Hi Pete,
I'm glad everything's holding up well - I don't think those errors are too bad though if they do start to affect the connection let us know and we'll get some testing done.

The lower IP Profile will be because at some time in the last three days you have synced at a much lower speed than your current speed.
