From what I gather basic voice mail is free but voice mail extra 1571 isn't and I assume that you are on the basic voice mail.
This is the relevant bit

Voicemail and Voicemail Extra (1571)
Whether you're away from home or on another call, Voicemail acts like a built in answerphone to make sure you don't miss a call. With Voicemail you can:
Save messages for up to 20 days
    Record your own greeting message
Standard Voicemail is free, but it's not switched on as standard. If you want to use it, you'll need to add it via the Telephone Control Panel.
In addition to the standard Voicemail features, Voicemail Extra allows you to:
Choose the number of rings before a call is answered
Check your messages from any phone (PIN Protected)
Link to your mobile and get SMS alerts† when new messages are left
Save messages for up to 30 days
Identify up to 3 callers who have hung up without leaving a message (as long they have not withheld their number)
† SMS alerts to a linked mobile cost 10p per message.

Here at Plusnet, we're always looking for ways to improve our service, so in 30 days' time we'll be upgrading the voicemail product on your phone line.
As well as making sure you don't miss a call when you're unavailable or on another call, you'll also be able to record your own personal greeting as part of your service. However, as part of the upgrade any existing messages you have will be removed.
You don't have to lift a finger - we'll handle everything and there won't be any disruption to any of your other Plusnet services.
All the best,

@elkieluca
Yes, it'll still be the same price (free) that it currently is.

Re: Voicemail update next month

I guess this has already been rolled out to some customers as I seem to be able to record a greeting already?

Yes, some customers will have it already - it depends when you signed up. Anyone who signed up during or after April should be able to record a greeting.
