Time to jump ship?

We have been Plusnet customers for many years however the cost of line rental is getting beyond a joke.  Plus on top they want to increase the cost of our ultra slow broadband connection by it seems 100%?

Our village is getting fibre within the next month or so which will then give us the choice of ISPs plus line rental options.  We normally pay our line rental up front but as we do not want to be locked in to Plusnet for another year in case there are better offers, we are going to hang fire.

Re: Time to jump ship?

They have to rely on the Openreach copper network; where have you seen that costs are to double?
If fibre is on horizon (from O/R) that'll only give you one more competitor to look; ie their parent.

Unless it's one of the independent fibre companies using the local government funding support.

Re: Time to jump ship?

Looking at our cost of line rental compared to many others it's still very competitive. I understand that your broadband cost is increasing slightly too, although it's by £1, not 100%. As you're on an old broadband product it might be worth having a conversation with our customer options team if you did decide to stay, they could help get you on to a current product and probably arrange a discount on this too.

Re: Time to jump ship?

As per the email recevied thsi morning;  The standard cost of your Value broadband is increasing from £12.99 to £13.99 a month. This doesn’t take into account any discounts you might have on your broadband.  Currently I am paying £6.99 a month for broadband albeit a very slow connection.

Re: Time to jump ship?

but your existing discount would remain hence there would be an increase of £1 in your effective broadband price plus the increase in line rental and call charges

Re: Time to jump ship?

Let me look in to that, I can see you're currently paying £6.49 per month (although realistically you're in a higher cost market area so it should be £12.99). I'll come back when I get more info.

Hi @Surfer

I'm just about to update a ticket on your account with confirmation of this but I've been advised your broadband price will be increasing by £1, not increasing to £13.99.

Re: Time to jump ship?

A £1 increase is a 15.5% increase?  Has every one else's BB increased by 15.5% or is it just me?

Re: Time to jump ship?

You are on a product we no longer sell I'm afraid and we've taken the decision to increase the price that anyone on that product pays by £1.

That old chestnut of trying to make unjustified price rises acceptable.

Next comes it's only increasing 23p a day..................

Next comes it's only increasing 23p an hour...............

Re: Time to jump ship?

if people don't like it then leave, argument over, let us who have more important things going on in life than 23p a week get on with things.
