I know this has been moved to Feedback for Comment by PlusNet.....
but this must be the understatement of the year....

Surely, ANY information stored about customers is "sensitive"... how can they justify that statement... ?  probably, trying to "save face" ( as in chinese/japanese culture) or trying to "play down" the severity of their lapse of security on this "non" sensitive information... 
They also state ......... this information MAY have been illegally accessed.... HUH ?  There has been a breach of security.... but they are saying "may" have been illegallly accessed... 
Really ? ? ?

The statement that always amazes me is being conned into giving away bank details. There is no way I would reveal any bank details via phone, email or the net. If they don't know them then they aren't legit.

originally i posted in Chit chat , as it wasnt a direct question for PN it was just a general comment .
but as its been moved i would have expected a reply from Staff here

I'm not sure what answer you're expecting really! We're certainly not going to detail our security policies publicly. I'm also not sure why a new article about a different company relates to Plusnet.

I was hoping for a general reassurance that third parties don't have direct access to your database

I can only guess but TT have recently taken over BB from other companies plus TT are linked to Carphone Warehouse so there's a lot of possibilities. PN are in a totally different position with only BT as a parent.
I would suspect some form of 'error' (polite word) during one of the migrations.

Hi
    Just joined Plusnet after 8 years of good service from TT ( believe it or not ) ... .bur poor Customer support and horrendous "outsourced " support lines finally forced the issue and I called it a day !
I've many years of network troubleshooting and also hardware and software support  experience ...so I hope I can contribute in some way here on Plusnet when my connection and switch over  is finalized  !

TT tend to be fine until you have an issue then all the trouble starts.
Having dealt with them on behalf of a neighbour, I'd be very wary of ever dealing with them personally ........
