Any update on the court case?Huh
Seen this post on the blog page http://community.plus.net/blog/2010/10/04/weve-won-the-top10-com-award-for-best-value-broadband/ - made me laugh... looks like they are just trying to bump down the ACS law blog posts.

@foxtrck, Plusnet may well have been naive, I certainly believe there were, and someone at BT was very stupid for sending the data unencrypted.  But I really don't buy this conspiracy type stuff you keep banging on with.  Plusnet will tell us what they feel they can when they can, and fhat will almost certainly be after others have told us pretty much what we want to hear.
If you want the latest, up to the date, wrong or right updates then read the Slyck thread on this.  But either way, please just stop posting a constant stream of negative comments and thoughts on every minutia of this thread.

Looks like this thread will be running to next year then.

They probably think they can win easiest on that, but I think Plusnet you need to prepare to object on other grounds too, you need to be prepared to argue that the accuracy of the data is so low that it is rendered more or less useless, cause of the solicitors can win the argument about keeping the data safe you will be left with serious egg on face again.

lol, and more, the judgement will come probably 2 weeks after the hearing, and then there are the appeals...
You can see why Plusnet/BT wouldn't want to fight, its costs a lot of money and time, but now that a case is going to be argued in court expect a lot of time to pass (years) before it finally becomes resolved.

Yes but if each request is going to cost a lot of money will they bother?

They can argue that because Plusnet is so incompetent that the data is meaningless.
I hope Plusnet will be writing (via letter) to all of the affected people.

Not sure what you mean?  There are no affected people yet, no court order has been granted (well in this case anyway).

The non-encryption of data, the leaking etc are obviously important, and should never be allowed to happen again.
But, I just hope that the current fiasco does not cloud the main issue with regard to the granting, or not, of an NPO on Monday - ie - the flawed, unreliable and flimsy nature of the so-called evidence.

As I feared - they're not tackling the main issue.
