Plusnet Assist?

I'm a new transferee from TalkTalk and thought that downloading the Assist software would be a great help to me.  Unfortunately, despite being on the web, it will not download saying I'm not connected!
Is there a simple answer for a "senior surfer" to follow please?

Are you using a Windows computer which has Internet Explorer installed? And were you using IE when the download failed?
Does the help guide http://www.plus.net/support/assist/help.shtml gives any clues?
