PN increase minimum term (adsl) from 12 to 18 month

Looking at the new offers (adsl), then in the legal bit noticed this;
Quote
Plusnet Unlimited £2.99 for the first 9 months then £9.99 a month – 18 month contract
Available until 12th November 2013 to new customers signing up from www.plus.net or by quoting 'juice9' promotional code for Plusnet Home Phone Weekend or Anytime packages and Plusnet Unlimited Broadband for 18 months minimum term.

Seems like to keep the heading grabbing prices they need to put up landline cost, then increase minimum term, will have to seriously think about moving customer to PN at the moment.

Regards
Mike

Well, I'm really glad they're not offering 9 months that cheap on a 12 month contract!

Re: PN increase minimum term (adsl) from 12 to 18 month

PN is this 18 month minimum term just for this particular offer period or will this now be the standard term on adsl going forward?

It's for this offer, as any of our contract terms are (except on Fibre). As ever you can still get our services without a minimum term or indeed any sort of contract and we've no plans to change that.

So Plusnet have money to waste.
No need for all those price increases.

Interesting conclusion to come to from what I've posted, how did you arrive at it?

I can see where he's coming from.
Offers offers everywhere, but for loyal customers only price rises and broken contracts.

Re: PN increase minimum term (adsl) from 12 to 18 month

When does an offer not remain an offer, and a so called "offer" becomes the normal price.
When the new packages was launched  ( last December i think ), how many week since launch has it not been on offer? , I would guess very few, can PN tell us.?

Re: PN increase minimum term (adsl) from 12 to 18 month

So am I right in thinking that there were 18 month (fibre), 12 month and the option of no contact.
And now it's either 18 month or no contract.
So then any deals requiring a contractual commitment are now 18 months instead of 12?

That's correct, after the offered period they may go back to 12 months (adsl)

Is this anything to do with:-

New rules set by the European Union which state mobile operators must offer 12-month contracts
to their customers are set to be enforced by Ofcom, the UK’s telecommunications regulator.

Re: PN increase minimum term (adsl) from 12 to 18 month

Another consequence of an 18 months contract is that it messes up the annual line rental saver. At the end of the contract you will be half way through the second year of the line rental saver (assuming it is taken out at the same time) and if you leave then you don't get a refund. To get the end date for both to coincide you need to stay three years if next contract is 18 months or they will never coincide if it reverts to 12 months. Incidentally  I've been in touch with retentions today and they were pushing two year contracts with a not very good saving.

They must be getting a bit desperate up at Plusnet Towers.
