As I see it the worst that can happen is that I cant keep this sync speed and the DLM will kick in and lower the profile, but with an SNR margin of 6db I don't expect this to happen as long as the fault has been fixed......so far in 6 hours I have had no loss of sync and my router can hang on in minus SNR margin figures if short periods of noise appear on the line, so in effect probably have approx 8db SNR margin to play with which should be ample......

I don't want to go getting BT to get the profile amended (which will take a bit of time), if there's going to be further hopeful improvements in synchronisation speeds.
What speeds were you seeing when Adam managed to get your line unbanded before?

There's a number of errored seconds showing whilst I run my tests and as such have asked HLE for further confirmation of the work that has been completed.

Without wishing to put a hex on things by saying this its great to see that we seem to be getting close to resolving any of the previous issues here.
Due to this being raised to an ombudsman its mostly in James' hands right now but I will continue to keep an eye on how things progress and will contribute if need be.

I have just done a BT speed test and can confirm the profile is now 3000.....thanks for doing that.....looking at my router logs we made it through the night with no disconnections or loss of sync..which is a good sign as when the temperature drops during the night thats the dodgy time for the SNR margin....we did lose connection at 8.45 am this morning so perhaps this was a result of the profile being re-set?....anyway it hasn't effected the sync speed which is still 3965....
The errors you are seeing are worrying as that suggests there is still a high resistance fault on the line and or a dodgy line card at the exchange.....from day one of this fault the port on the line card was dodgy and I was moved to another port on the same line card...my line attenuation improved from 59db to 49db which was a significant improvement and just goes to show its not just the length of your line that gives you your line attenuation.....
To sum up, the errors you are seeing don't look good for this being a long term fix.....
Adam,
You put a lot of effort into this and deserve a lot of the credit despite me having to complain to ISPA to get things moving, perhaps you could have got James involved sooner to assist you, hopefully you are professional enough (I'm sure you are) to take our fallout on the chin and find that this experience will make you even better at your job than you already are.....I hope that doesn't sound patronising as thats not my intention...as I do value your input.....
Jelv,
Thanks again for your input today, the errors are worrying as I mention above.....perhaps this is why I am not seeing the full 3000 download speed and 2810 as the BT speed test shows?
As per your request please see my router stats attached with this post and my latest BT speed test for your info......

Yes, understood. Once I've heard back from HLE I should know more. I do wonder though, you mention that you lost service briefly whilst they were actually performing the work, presumably to ensure that a large number of people didn't lose service for the duration. I do wonder whether or not you have actually been rerouted back to the new stretch of cable, but that's me thinking aloud more than anything else.
Not sure what the connection drop was. It shouldn't have been my enforcing the profile change. Either way, I'll let you know once I have further information.
Thanks for your ongoing patience.

By the time Adam got BT to remove the banded profile which took an age the PTO guys had managed to disconnect me from the internet altogether for 2 weeks which as you know turned out to be a simple jumpering issue that these so called 'experts' managed to make a complete cock up of.....
So in short I cant tell you, but when we did get sync back after a few days but still no internet the sync was 2267 which suggests to me the banded profile was never lifted and Adam yet again was fed more lies / incorrect information from BT, which makes his job very hard to do I would say......

According to the team that deal with banding requests, this is the third time that banding has been lifted from your line. However, it could have well been the case that it was reapplied shortly after having been removed, which giving the issues on your line could well have been the case. I don't believe the information that was given to have been incorrect in this case.

I think its possible that I was not on that stretch of cable to start with as we only lost internet on the Friday night at 11.05pm for 5 mins and not at all at the weekend so you would think there would be at least a 5 min loss of service again while they connect us back after they completed the work......of course the 5 min loss of service on Friday night could also be totally unrelated to the work carried out as I have lost service in the past on a Friday night around the same time.......
I think the errors you are seeing may now be coming into play........just noticed my router hanging on in minus SNR margin figures and finally losing sync......came back now syncing at 4033.......which doesn't make sense as with problems I should be losing sync via DLM......perhaps that will kick in in about 75 mins.......
As I was writing this post same happened again and now router is syncing at 4013.........

HLE are currently chasing Team Leader @ randomly named office in OpenReach.
I'll let you know once they've managed to get hold of him.

I am only aware of 2 occasions when the banding was supposed to be lifted, the one I mentioned and the latest one, which is the only time I have seen evidence of it being lifted in terms of sync speed.....
I think Adam will tell you BT gave him a hard time getting it lifted and may well have re-applied it soon after lifting it, sounds the sort of underhand tactic BT employ......

Thanks,
Seems to have settled down now, no dis-cons for 30 mins, sync 4013........
Its odd as to what suddenly killed the SNR margin, my money would be on a dodgy line card at the exchange......would explain the errors you are seeing as well....
