Re: Migration Query

No problem,
PTOs like I say are amongst the most qualified and experienced engineers, it's quite rare to get one involved in a single end user fault like yours and yes I am sure that they are the most capable people to handle this from the suppliers side of things now.
Work was done yesterday to try and resolve a cable fault. The exchange side pairs between the exchange and cab were changed again and also the cable from the cab to the telegraph, bar pairs (where the line terminates on the telegraph) were also replaced. Both us and BTW are surprised that this has not brought the line back in synch so to cover both bases I have asked for checks to be done at the exchange on top of the PTOs checking the full length of the cable from premises to exchange today.

Re: Migration Query

Hi Adam,
I have sync speed now, but still no internet.....router showing zero uptime......do you need to re-set the line or something similar?
Nice healthy down stream sync of 3885 but a poor upload sync of only 448......

Re: Migration Query

Hi there,
If the fault has been resolved we should not need to do anything further.  I will chase BTW now to see what's happened.
Interestingly enough I have tested the line and according to what I can see the line is out of sync.
If it shows as in sync at your side could you please restart your router so I can check if any connection attempts are hitting BT's radius servers?

Re: Migration Query

I wonder if the support guy on Sunday that re-set the line for me (I had to turn the router off for 30 mins while he did this) made some sort of error / mistake?
Just and idea.......as this now seems a plusnet problem if I have sync.........

Re: Migration Query

I'm going to be honest here there is no such thing as a line reset I'm not sure what you were advised exactly but you were advised to power down purely for diagnostic reasons
I can't comment on what's causing your issue at present, I'm expecting a call from BTW within the next few minutes about that.
Its worth bearing in mind that there are several possible points of failure with both us and BTW with regards to login issues. I would suspect the latter as tests from here seem to indicate that the line is not in sync, that is indicative of a jumpering issue at the exchange.

Re: Migration Query

I was advised EXACTLY  that he was going to re-set the line for me, it was very clear what he told me, I did get the impression he was trying to fob me off at the time.....seems I was right......
Ok, so we need to find out what BT thinks it is..........I dread to think.......
As I am showing sync and your tests don't I suppose its possible the problem is at the exchange, but I thought your tests showed if I have sync or not?......I am surprised you cannot see the sync at your end........

Re: Migration Query

As per when I called you I fear there may be a jumpering issue at play now. I have raised this with the team manager of the high level complaints team at BT and this is being handed over to the PTOs I mentioned tomorrow. They should be working at the exchange to check the jumpering following on from the E-side cable changes.
As I am away from work for the next 6 days I am handing this over to Matt who is going to continue dealing with this in my absence and will keep you updated.

Re: Migration Query

Hi dogwhisperer,
We've had an email back from BT regarding today's PTO, they'll be looking at the jumpering and also a possible crossed line issue. They've advised that as it's a massive job it's likely that there won't be any updates until tomorrow but I'll call this afternoon and see if I can get any information on what's happening for you.

Re: Migration Query

Hi Matt,
Thx for the update.....
Did they give any indication of how long this 'massive' job would take?....if not perhaps you could ask them when you call them next....

I will be doing - but no, unfortunately they said nothing about timescales other than the update tomorrow thing.

Re: Migration Query

Right, I've called them but as expected there were no updates I'm afraid. I'm off tomorrow but have handed this over to Rami (forum username RamiDoodle, you've probably seen some posts by him - there's no one better on faults than Rami) to update you tomorrow and Monday. I'll pick it back up on Tuesday but I'm hoping we'll hear tomorrow regarding the PTOs findings.
