Re: Lack of support from Plusnet

I've kept both DMT and RS running but there's nothing to see, RS has hardly moved from a straight line all day.
I was expecting by now a rise in my IP Profile but nothing so far , do you want to see the rest of the graphs or shall I just keep them in case you need them later, Jack.

Re: Lack of support from Plusnet

If the graphs are pretty much like nos:2 & 4 today, probably not worth looking at, but hang onto them for the time being.
Anything with spikes like no:3 today (6/3/09), or especially 1925-2125 where there is a scaling change & 1623-1823 yesterday (5/3/09), or step changes such as 1039 & 1049 on the 4/3/09. With these latter two, if you can't spot the steps on DMT, they're a bit more obvious on RS if you look at graph RS1.jpg you posted, you'll see how the level suddenly steps below (in this case) the average. All these, and any you are just not sure about, post them.
Profile - what was it when you posted earlier? Run a BT speedtest Saturday mid/late morning if you can and see what the member centre is saying as well. If you are around Saturday to be able to do it post a DMT shot from a similar time slot say mid-morningi/lunchtime-ish.

Re: Lack of support from Plusnet

Hi Chris,
I've been checking my Profile daily on BT and this morning it has increased, now just wait for Plusnet to catch up. I'll run DMT from around 11.00>13.00 as I'll be busy afterwards, as it runs itself I'll leave RS on all day, can always check the log if needed, Jack.

Re: Lack of support from Plusnet

Slightly more noise around compared to similar time slot yesterday, but never the less nothing to write home about. Just caught something switching on at 1048 !  An unwelcome burst of CRC's (& a couple of ES's) sometime 1200/1215 but nothing obvious showing on the plots, still fairly insignificant..
Glad the profile's up.

Re: Lack of support from Plusnet

Well where to go from here? I intend to ask BT to reset my SRNM again as I can't see any other way to go, from what I can see after running RS and DMT for 6 days my line is reasonably stable and I'm convinced the blip the last time was caused by their equipment and not mine!, Jack.

Re: Lack of support from Plusnet

Your line is stable (so far) with a 9dB Target, doesn't mean it will be with a 6dB Target unfortunately.
The way to go is to start tweaking, you've got more control at the moment than you have over BT! If things end up perfectly stable with you setting the Target,  and then things go pear-shaped if BT reset it, you will have a clear case to get BT to do something, otherwise all and sundry will just turn round and say your line is no longer stable with a 6dB target - not what you want.
Tomorrow daytime, if the SNRM is steadily showing 9dB +/- a few 10ths, then move the target slider to 80% and press the button, hopefully you'll sync above 6816 which will also put you into a 6M IP profile.
If the errors continue to look good for a while, then one could go for a bit more. I'm relucant to suggest going the whole hog in one go in case it goes tits-up and your target gets worse.

Re: Lack of support from Plusnet

Hi Chris,
Results after following you suggestion, please note the DMT download I was using decided not to cooperate this morning so used a new download from Oldjims original message, they look OK to me, what do you think?, Jack.

Re: Lack of support from Plusnet

Disappointed with the sync speed, must be noisier today. That was with the slider at 80% was it (you remembered to make sure the tab and buttons were unlocked)? What's the SNRM running at at this moment?

Re: Lack of support from Plusnet

SNRM is now at 8.3dB, yes 80%, I'm also disappointed with the Sync Speeds but have been for a while now, 3 months ago my Sync was up in the low 7M and I was running at 6.6M. I've left it running and will see what happens, Jack.

Re: Lack of support from Plusnet

One plus point, at least it's shown a move up from 8dB and looks a bit flatter now.
Question - are you not too far away from a Marina by any chance?

Re: Lack of support from Plusnet

Some distance from a Marina would be measured in miles, even around 800 metres from the sea.

Oh well, one theory out the window. Anyone in your flats who may have a boat (at a nearby marina perhaps) possibly using a portable marine radio?

Re: Lack of support from Plusnet

No luck again.
About a year ago we had problems with interference on television and had a Investigator from OFCOM and he spent a lt of time checking out the vicinity without finding anything, eventually he said it was someone with an aquarium and the heater was causing the problem, he then left us to check out our neighbours for fish tanke. Two days later an immersion heater on the same floor as me packed up, after it was replaced no more interference!!
We have very local (about 150 m. a radio transmitter and a taxi office with a transmitter but both of there he checked and declared them clean, I can't think of anything else in the vicinity, there are a couple of car repair shops but if they were using any welding equipment it would only be in working hours which would rule them out I think, Jack.
