Re: Getting very cheesed off now

Hi Adam,
There has been no evidence of noise on the line since that incident back in November so I doubt it has any bearing on the current problem.
When multi disconnects have been happening I have monitored the line and noticed no noise at all.
Each and every time the line has been checked it has been of high quality. I think we will be on a hiding to nothing if we go on the phone route as all they will do is the same checks as all the other engineers did and find nothing.
What is needed with faults such as this is monitoring equipment on the line to detect what is causing the problems. My problem could be a noise spike that would be impossible to detect without constant monitoring.

Sorry, it seems I misinterpreted what you were saying about the noise on the line. I need to review this with a member of our faults team. Please bear with me and I'll come back to you again after I've done this.

Re: Getting very cheesed off now

Do you get many incoming phone calls? Does the line seem to stay up longer following an incoming call?

Re: Getting very cheesed off now

We don't get that many calls to be honest (nobody loves us Sad ) so can't say if that the case. Over the weekend it  stayed up 40 hours from 06.00 Friday to 22.18 Sunday but then only stayed up 12 hours  till 10.03 this morning. I've tried to see if there is any pattern but can't see any.
The only pattern I'm getting is engineers turning up who either don't seem that interested or have very little knowledge of broadband only having a half day course consisting of going out with another engineer. The other common theme is they all say they are having a lot of problems with ADSL2+ but that maybe due to them not knowing how to fix the faults. They don't seem to have any equipment to check ADSL2+ only old voyager modem that work sometimes.

Re: Getting very cheesed off now

Does the line drop out when you get an incoming call?
If not once a day call your number using your mobile let it ring three times and then hang up. The logic behind this is that extra voltage is applied to the line when the phone rings; this can make good a dodgy connection. If this does help it gives something concrete to investigate on your line.

Re: Getting very cheesed off now

Following a thorough review of your fault we are going to arrange a lift and shift to go ahead. Everything seems to be pointing to a faulty port at the moment and we need to make sure this is ruled out.
An engineer task (please note without appointment) is now being arranged). We will keep you up to date as this gets pushed through.

Re: Getting very cheesed off now

Oh for god sake - A lift and shift was supposed to have been done last Friday. The engineer phoned me from the exchange to say he had carried out a L/S as I reported on this forum and on the ticket. All we seem to be doing is repeating what has already been done and getting nowhere. Are you saying a L/S was not carried out on Friday?
This is really getting me down. no one seems to know what the hell they are doing. One minute I'm told a lift and shift has been done, next it has not, then it has. The fault has been passed to the complex fault team then  it hasn't. I don't know how many time a REIN engineer had definitely been booked only they had not.
We had SKY salesman trying top sell us BB and telephone on Saturday for a lot less than I'm paying now and I can't tell you how tempted I was to sign up. I'm not going to put up with much more of this, speeds up and down like a yo yo and disconnects.

Re: Getting very cheesed off now

George
I sympathise, and I have very much been tempted down the SKY route, as I am sure both our faults are exchange equip related, and should go away of its exchange equip, but I have not been confident enough as yet, and I prefer to stay where I am, but as you, I cant put up with this for much longer.  Hissing noted on my line again, and I have been asked to try a different phone, but this has been done before, and I even completely disconnected the phone for a couple of days ( nobody loves us too  Roll_eyes )

Re: Getting very cheesed off now

Now really, really hacked off. Had a phone call at 9.00am from a BT engineer at the exchange telling me there is nothing wrong with my connection, the lift and shift had been done on Friday and there had been no disconnections since then. Complete and utter rubbish apart from the 4 disconnects I have logged I rebooted myself twice so that's 6 disconnects since Friday. I read out the times of the disconnects and he said what I'm saying does not tally with the 21CN peoples logs. What is going to happen now I don't know as BTW say there is nothing wrong when there clearly is. I suppose my only alternative is to move to a LLU provider which I really don't want to do but I've had  a gut full of BT.

Re: Getting very cheesed off now

glloyd,
We've been informed that no lift and shift has been carried out so firstly we are seeking clarification on this. Secondly the matter is being escalated again as the inconsistent approach from engineers is obviously unacceptable.
We are really grateful of your patience and we understand that it may only be able to stretch so far so I want to assure you that a member of our faults team is dealing with the interaction between us and BTW today.

Re: Getting very cheesed off now

At 11.20am this morning the phone pinged and the BB disconnected so maybe they are still playing silly B's at the exchange.
It is unbelievable how uncoordinated BTW appear to be. It must be costing them a small fortune. The engineer who called today obviously had no notes as I had to go through explaining the whole saga yet again.
Can someone at PN check to see if the diconnects can be seen at your end.

Re: Getting very cheesed off now

I'm really sorry that especially at this stage that you've had to explain to anyone the history of this issue. We are unable to speak with the engineers whilst they are working on this but I'm certain that we can update you this afternoon.
With regards to disconnections today I can see the following:

Re: Getting very cheesed off now

This is really doing my head in - Yesterday profile reset and I'm up to 15meg with a SNR 6 - This morning it's rebooted and I'm now on less that 3meg with a SNR of 29.
I'm now wondering if there is a fault in the DLM because some weird things and reading have been happening,.
