External FTP with the Pro add-an

http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/traffic_management.shtml
Surely external FTP isn't prioritised above Plusnet FTP - I can't understand the logic of that!
It also seems odd that Other is also pushed up to Titanium

Re: External FTP with the Pro add-an

Hi Jelv,
To address these (just asked Dave Smiley )

It is... reasons being, there's no point prioritising Plusnet FTP any higher than that because the connection speed is limited by the servers rather than anything else (I believe that's mentioned when you log in to PN FTP?). Also the Pro add-on was in part designed for remote working, which in a lot of cases involves FTP to non-Plusnet sites.

That's because Other is where all the unidentified traffic is, so all new games etc will be in here if they're not already classified. One of  the major selling points of Pro is that this traffic will be prioritised, hence why it's in titanium.
Hope that helps explain.

Just checked and it is:
Quote
220-PLEASE NOTE: If you have a non-subscription account you
220-will only be able to login to this ftp server if you are
220-dialled into our network.
220-
220-A Maximum of 4 concurrent connections are allowed to this
220-server, each session is limited to 256KB/s downloads.
220-
220 Plus.Net FTP Server #5 ready

Edit: But no such message on FTPing to ccgi! This is all you get:

Re: External FTP with the Pro add-an

That's because FTP to the CCGI servers is limited by the ellacoyas rather than the server itself to prevent abuse of the platform.
