End of 25 years with plusnet

Force9 were great. Plusnet the same. I guess most people swap and change based on price. Why did I stay, they hosted my domain and dealt with email.

Not any longer. I would have been staying possibly forever. But there is very little to keep me anymore.

Re: End of 25 years with plusnet

@Ukbrown1  So after 25 years you have just registered on the forum to say you are leaving Plusnet, it must have been OK for all that time.  Very few ISPs provide email and hosting services, Plusnet did as a perk for no charge and by keeping all the legacy brand emails going such as Force9 the problems for support became very difficult to deal with.

Are you aware of this .... https://www.plus.net/help/email-account-changes/

They are migrating the email and hosting to a company with a good reputation for email and hosting services.

Plusnet could have just shut all this down but they have been very reasonable and the migration will allow all users including the legacy brands to retain their existing email addresses etc.

So why are you leaving?

Re: End of 25 years with plusnet

@RealAleMadrid  Why is he leaving? - Same reasons as me I suppose.

I joined back in ‘98 (as Force9). Strong technical support team. Email (common to most ISPs back then of course). Free (well nominal £1) domain (actually 2 as I got an extra 1 as a prize for them deleting all my emails) and webspace with root access. Newsreader with a decent retention. Responsive phone/email support with techs online. Very competitive pricing.

Now all of that is gone, only basic broadband service remains and short-term (2 years) 3rd-party email and web services then commercial rates. Laughable support (aside from here of course!). Pricing at the top end of the second league.

I’ve stayed through inertia and in fact I’ve re contracted for 2 years which will take me to about the end of the free email and web stuff. After that I guess I’ll be about as loyal to PN as BT has been to me.
