Re: Buffering

have you raised a support ticket?
the forum is not how you would raise a request for support.

also, do you get buffering from those services on any other device? or is it just on the TV?

Re: Buffering

Are you saying you're still on ADSL?

Re: Buffering

don't know what adsl means. I have one wire from my bt box to a filter whicH splits the phone and broadband. I've changed the filter and both wires for brand new ones today. I'll see this evening of there is any difference. A friend who had the same issue found that the ilprovider had 20 addresses connected to the one terminal in the box at the end of his street. they always quoted the speed to this box not his house. took him months to sort it out.

Re: Buffering

OK, I was asking as in your original post you hint at upgrading to a faster service implying that you may be on a lower speed fibre package or even slower ADSL* broadband.

As it would appear that you are on ADSL then if others in the house are using the internet at the same time as yourself then chances are you will experience buffering.

Are you able to post the results of a speed test.

Re: Buffering

not it isn't
ADSL is up to 20Mbps
VDSL/Fibre/FTTC is up to 40Mbps (or up to 80Mbps)

what is your "actual" connection speed?
use a speedtester on a device connected via ethernet.

also, you didn't answer my question about whether it's only the TV having the problem or other devices too.

Re: Buffering

can't really say if other things are affected as I only watch bbc player and Netflix on my TV. I'll try my laptop and let you know.

you would need to do that, as it might be the TV.
until you test other devices you won't know otherwise.

Re: Buffering

Speeds of 26Mb/s should be more than enough for streaming, try opening iPlayer or similar on your laptop and see if you still get the buffering then

Units are so very important in technical posts.  I think you really meant Mbps which is just one-thousandth of a gbps ... If you really had 26gbps you'd be making everyone envious !

Its an easy mistake but can lead to much confusion (and wrong expectations), similar to the difference between Mbps (bits) and MBps (bytes).
