Broadband speeds

Angry Broadband speed is always going to be an issue, My problem started 3 or 4 days ago with slow speeds of 0.5kbps download and uoload 0.288kbps and nothing I did improved it, all the question and answer sessions on fault checker acheived nothing.  then this morning a clutch of e-mails and text messages telling me my fault had been resolved all I had to was reboot my router and all my troubles would be over [yippee] so I rebooted wrong, the pesky thing wouldn't reboot dead as a dodo.
I blew my top rang customer services and asked for a mac key I'd had enough, to be fair all your staff are very friendly and considerate and the lady took it all in her stride and I got my mac key straight away. Then the next shock came with a a bunch of e-mails [ got on line with dial up.] deferred activation fee £40.00 deferred hardware fee £29.99. all I want is a decent 24hr service at reasonable speeds. It's taken me all day to get the router back on line still don't know what i've done right but it's working. Since joining plusnet last November I have had number of problems with speeds. Come on Plusnet get it sorted please.

Re: Broadband speeds

just a guess but you most likely had a blip in sync speed due to well could of been many things(you plug anything in ect around the time your speed droped or a thunder storm maybe) and caused your profiles to drop which can take 1-3 days to reflect a new higher sync rate  your ip profile has most likely increased https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed and your bt one http://www.speedtester.bt.com/ and plusnet had seen the increase in ip profile today and asked you to reboot router to pick this up so you see it in better speed on test sites
if you dont know how to see what your router is currently syncing at then check here to find how to on your router http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php
also a list of syncs vs ip profiles here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/IPprofile.htm
sry if you all ready know all this stuff but from your post it seemed you didnt to me

Re: Broadband speeds

Your right asbo dog I dont know a thing about broadband workings,  but I do know when I'm not receiving a reasonable service  for the  money I spend, and thats my bone of contention.
Anyway things seem to be going  ok now so i'll leave the ranting and raving to someone else.
                                                          Cheers,

Re: Broadband speeds

understand the frutrastion but with sync problems due to it being from you ome to the exchange and this being BTw an openreach's problem all PN can do is insure they make sure they keep the guys at BTw on top of things by poking them now an then when you have fault raised with them and also offer you advice on checking your equmpment an wiring at your end to insure you dont get hit with the huge charge that BTw improse if the fault is found on you side of the master socket.
hope your speed keeps it current rate
