It looks like they are going to continue with the three distinct brands, so nothing much changes...

Just because there are three 'brands' doesn't mean that there will be three independent operations in the future. There's no reason that these should not all be combined in one single organisation with just three different headers to documentation etc. Seeing that this is all about increasing returns for shareholders and supporting a £8 Billion pension deficit, why would they keep them all independent if it's cheaper to have them all integrated - we shall see.

Re: BT Merge Plusnet from 1st April

For once, it seems I jumped ship before it sank, my vodamoan service starts on Friday and my new router arrived today...

Guess 18 months from now there will be no more plusnet, so will have to see what's what when the time comes... Undecided

Or music..........

I'll never tire of reminding plusnet of their inappropriate selection.

Ahh the long wait. Those were the days as an apprentice.

Why are names missing on quotes now?

Re: BT Merge Plusnet from 1st April

So come 1st April will we as if by magic suddenly find Plusnet's finely honed admin & accounting systems seamlessly merged with those of BT; will we all be switched over to the appropriate BT package (albeit with a Plusnet logo at the top) or will it all carry on as before? On a personal level, if it's not the third option, what happens to the fttp trial?

Re: BT Merge Plusnet from 1st April

Disappointing news maybe if totally integrated. I moved from BT a few months back to John Lewis/Plusnet (I did know Plusnet is a BT company). I had been having frequent broadband drop-outs for 12 months with no sign of resolution, it was the much superior feedback from Plusnet, the Radius Log Graphs etc that enabled me with Plusnet staff to get the problem elevated with BT/Openreach and finally resolved. It was a known exchange fault that Openreach were eventually obliged to address. Under BT, history of the line performance was ignored and only once admitted to by a customer service person, an engineer visit when the line had been reset by a line test resulted in a No Fault Found, with the added threat of the call out charge of about £130, this narrow scope approach is no joke. Only when an Openreach engineer was instructed to not run a line test before visiting was the fault, after 15 months fixed, now drop-outs occurs are extremely rare, six weeks or more. To lose the type of feedback that Plusnet provide in such circumstances will be a loss.

As it reads there is no change, only the umbrella organisation.

There's nothing to see, move along....

Re: BT Merge Plusnet from 1st April

Lots of management buzzwords in that shareholder report of convergence, cost transformation and consolidation with 4000 back office  job losses. So clearly a significant cost reduction programme.

Interesting to where PLUSNET is positioned in the BT group , the value brand competing with TalkTalk and SSE.

So I don't think we will getting upgraded fibre routers anytime soon.

Nothing stopping you using your own router which other providers prohibit.
