I doubt the average customer cares to be honest - as long as the speeds seem acceptable to them in their activities (mostly browsing and email I'd have thought) they would look at their speeds.

As I've noted elsewhere, it's the how big is my willy syndrome. 1000mm sounds like a whopper, but when someone points out its only 1m it does not sound quite so grand, someone then thinks they've been conned.
Communication speeds are measured in bits per second, where as data transfer program's (eg FTP) report BYTES per second. If the person "seeing" this does not understand the difference between Mbps and MBps (as per a current poll) then they seem to seek to claim they've been conned.

If my willy was that big, I'd be happy describing it as either !

Speeds are good 24/7 so who cares about the rest? We could ask when are you going to stop splitting hairs over something so trivial?
