But that is not my main argument. I have consistently argued that speed is largely irrelevant as the vast majority of d/l sites have their own d/l speeds and restrictions. Add to that plus nets traffic management throttling problems,
Even if plus net provide you with a 100mb d/l speed your iplayer will still stammer at peak times and the majority of d/l sites will simply laugh at you.
I am of the opinion that what plus value customers want more than anything is an increase in the monthly usage allowance.
10gb or 300mb a day just gives you 3 video d/ls a few browsing sitesand a few emails.and i small iplayer playback

We'd all love a higher monthly allowance but we do have the choice of moving to Extra with 60Gb allowance.

in plain simple english i am saying that even if you get 1000million d/l spped its totally irrelevant as rapidshare etc etc etc all have their own restricted d/l speeds unless you buy a premium account.
to repeat: if plus net gave you 100mb d/l rapid will still d/l at any time of the day at 79kps and you will have aged by the time your video d/ls

Since switching to 21CN there have been less fluctuations in speed. When my upload speed is capped these figures will be higher.
I'm 3km from exchange and a few hundred yards from cabinet.

i will second that
a doubling of speed would only result in halving the time before a 10 GB limit runs out
perhaps BT pay to have more guinea pigs trialing their 21st century network (21cn)?

Not really logical

You could quite easily blow a 10Gb limit on a 2Mb connection. Can't see me downloading much more and if I do I'll upgrade to Extra.
I've never seen the logic in expecting any supplier to lose money on a product.

it is logical
mathematically:
speed = usage/ time
speed * 2 = usage/time * 2 (or twice the usage during the same time or the same usage but for half the time
but companies are not wasting money when its you who are charged to go on any of their trial products

If the browsing habits don't change all that would happen is that things would happen quicker and the connection would spend longer sitting idle

I have only a finite amount of time available, so will likely be doing something else (sleeping maybe) whilst downloading. I'm not going to all of a sudden think
"oh good my download speed has doubled I can watch twice as many films now"
I'm just going to re-prioritise so that I can do things in a much more efficient manner.
I personally never understand the fuss about usage allowances though - it only applies between 8am and midnight, so if you really want to download stuff, schedule it for the early hours of the morning when it will be faster due to less network congestion.

Quote from: giro with a constant usage at a doubling in speed
Ok, so it takes me .5 of a second for this page to load.
My speed doubles, it takes .25 of a second for this page to load.
I then spend 5 minutes reading through it. Move on to my next page.
It's not really making much difference is it?
