It's that time again folks and you've got the pleasure of my company for the duration of the end of week. We've got a rather special update from Andy and the Online, Comms & Training team this week, so make sure you don't miss that. How are we already near the end of August, where has the year gone? And can I have it back as there are many things I still want to do. Ah well, guess that's a no, on we go with the first update. Nick from the Web Team here, bringing you your weekly web dev news round up!
We've hit Friday already and the last 5 days really have seemed to zip by. Over the week myself and Duffy have concentrated on general Problem fixing, plus I've also been writing some content for a few new templates which Sam has been prototyping. It's looking good too - always satisfying to see ideas come to life on screen.
In other news...as well as working on new templates with me, Sam's also given some of the signup welcome screens a bit of a dust off and a makeover. I've not seen them, but I reckon they'll look pretty good. Good work Sam. Sam's been ably assisted in the design corner, as ever, by Mr. Cole Trickle ('Gary', to his Mum). He's been sprucing the homepage templates, sorting out style sheets and reworking some designs for random tools. Finally, celebrity 'Team Captain' Jonny has been here, there and well...everywhere! He was out of the office yesterday doing some funky presentations for the business. Apparently they went well, but he's pretty tired from it all. What's that coming over the hill? Is it a weekend? Jonny will be glad - it is! Have a good one guys. See you for more next week.
Thanks Nick, next up we've got Jen from HR.
Jen here from HR central (as opposed to the other HR peeps somewhere off in the atmos)....well, what a week. Therese has been off on holiday all week, lucky her. Laura also managed to wangle two days off...well, it is her brother's wedding. And I reckon that about... *dramatic pause* NOW ...Barbs will be landing on a sunny island for her summer holidays. No such luck for me and Gemma, but since it's Friday afternoon we can't be too glum! I've been compiling information on new starters today, welcome to Tom and Chris who are in training. I've also been working on an employee relations report and learning how to do KPIs. The rest of the week seems a bit of a blur, what with the MDLP and various last minute things to organise. Oooh, and I've been working with Westfield on a promotion for our employees. I also seemed to have managed to get myself roped into some brand awareness malarkey. Hmmm, thanks Pete. That's enough from me. Gemma, what's the week been like for you? "Oh my days, the pressure of writing a summary quote of my week. I hope this isn’t forming part of my quarterly performance rating….. With Therese (Head of HR) off all week (although she’s still been answering e-mail on her Blackberry!) and Laura only with us for one afternoon, it’s been pretty much Jen, Barbs and I running the ship. We’ve made a good start with reviewing the Company handbook (good point Gem...I'd forgotten that bit!) and making changes where either legislation has changed or things have changed internally. Of course there has been internal recruitment activity, there always is these days. That makes it sound like I don’t like recruitment, I do, it’s lovely to help give people the opportunity to progress and develop within the business. Back over to Jen..." She's right, it has been a bit manic with recruitment recently...all systems go! So, from that it's safe to surmise we will both be glad to start our weekend in T minus......
Here's what you've all been waiting for, it's Andy with our special update. You need sound otherwise it's a bit pointless.
