Re: Yale Alarm not connecting with Router

@argalebush did you try @Baldrick1 s suggestion above ?

There's at least one report of the Yale Hub not playing nicely with DHCP https://community.bt.com/t5/Home-setup-Wi-Fi-network/Yale-Smart-Home-Alarm-connectivity-issues-with-...

Re: Yale Alarm not connecting with Router

Was there anything wrong with your previous router?

Or are you just using the PlusNet router because it was sent to you?

Just so you know, you do not have to use the router sent to you by PlusNet, you can use your own if you wish.

With that said, if there is nothing wrong with the router you were previously using, and it is capable of handling your new PlusNet service, then I would be sorely tempted to just use that considering your alarm system worked OK with it.

That's a red herring! . As I said earlier, ALL ports are open for outgoing connections. Why the manufacturers of these systems insist on checking ports is just to pass the buck!.

If the Yale isnt being seen as connected to the Hub, then its a more basic problem. I'm guessing its not getting an IP address via DHCP. If @Baldrick1 s suggestion doesnt help, then have you tried a different ethernet cable ?

From what you said earlier a Hive system works in any of ports 1-3 of the Hub, so that really puts the problem fairly and squarely in the Yale court...

If nothing above works, then perhaps you could unplug the Yale hub, plug it back in and then post the Hub 2 event log

Re: Yale Alarm not connecting with Router

I tried this however the internet doesnt even come through that router. Was a talk talk so different provider. Perhaps I need to obtain a TP Link router or other and just see if that makes any difference?

Re: Yale Alarm not connecting with Router

@argalebush

It's irrelevant of which router is used. If the Yale's DHCP server has changed then you need to trigger a reset of the Yale. If the DHCP server is in an intermediate unit then it's a matter of checking whether that unit is accessing the Internet.

The basic thing that you should try is to reset the Yale so that it will pick up a new IP address from wherever. Is there any option in the App to do a Factory Reset?

Failing this, from reading the manual, I suspect that to reset it you need to both disconnect it from the mains and switch off the back up battery. If this means that you have to access the exterior unit to access tha battery switch then so be it.

I have a security camera that has it's reset swith at the camera. I needed to get a ladder out to reset this when I changed router.

Alternatively, before spending money on another router why not ask Yale?
