Vigor 130 - Asus DSL-AX82U Settup

Hi,
I'm looking for some help about setting up a Vigor 130 to use the DSL-AX82U router WAN port.
Recently, Plusnet dropped my landline phone facility in advance of the FFTP changeover which has forced me to move to a VOIP provider.
However, I noticed that VOIP calls were dropping out and/poor speech quality. Plusnet then ran some remote line checks and arranged for an Openreach engineer to make a site visit. In the meantime I noticed that the DSL connection log on the AX82U was showing frequent line drops and high CRC, ES and SES errors.
The Openreach engineer carried out extensive testing but for nothing conclusive, although he changed the Master socket and remade the router's DSL wired connection.
Despite all this, I'm still seeing DSL frequent disconnects, (at least twice every 24hrs) and high line errors.
In an attempt to rule out the DSL-AX82U's internal DSL modem as the problem source, I want to front it with a Vigor 130 modem connected to the router's WAN port, however I'm struggling to get this setup to work!
Has anyone attempted this arrangement before?
Any help would most appreciated!
Many thanks in anticipation.

Try VoIP Codec G711a (or PCMA) for the cleanest sound quality.

Thanks for your response,
I'll try the G711a codec - at the moment its set to Opus, but that doesn't explain the high line error rates.

Agreed on the errors.
You mention DSL is that ADSL or VDSL aka FTTC ?

Hi,
I have VDSL, (FTTC) broadband connection - there's about 850m of copper to the property.

What about it are you struggling with ?
I used to run a Vigor 130 in to a router (albeit not the same as yours) along with multiple VoIP accounts. It always worked perfectly on FTTC and later SoGEA on a similar length line to you.
I've since upgraded to a Vigor 167, as it is a better performing modem and has the second ethernet port which makes configuration and monitoring less complicated, and makes WAN RFC4638 baby jumbo frames more reliable when adjusting the WAN MTU to 1500 (plus 8 for PPP overhead).
I have checked the spec of your DSL-AX82U and can see no reason why it wouldn't work, also unusually it is capable of routing LAN http packets to the WAN interface so that you can access the Vigor 130 GUI via the same cable carrying the PPPoE traffic.

Hi,
Many thanks for your reply - I'll investigate further, however I thought the DSL-AX82U WAN setup for the Vigor 130 fronting would be more intuitive, i.e "plug and play" - I'm probably missing something, but I just want to find the root cause behind these high line error rates and frequent line drops!

In theory on your DSL-AX82U you need to select WAN socket instead of the DSL port, set the WAN connection type to "PPPoE", and then add your Plusnet username and password. Ensure VLAN ID = 0 and 802.1Q Enable = No.
On a UK region Vigor 130 from factory reset, I think it should work without any configuration changes when plugged in to your router's WAN port. If it doesn't then check the modem's VDSL2 Service VLAN tag value is correctly set to 101.
Check that your Vigor 130 has the latest 3.8.5.1_BT firmware installed from here - https://www.draytek.co.uk/support/downloads/vigor-130
