Using Plusnet with Three UK mobile

I am having a rather terrible time using my mobile whilst at home as is my partner with hers.

Outside of the home they work correctly but I seem to lack voice when making and recieving calls, as does she.

I am using a pixel 8a and she is using a pixel 6a and we have both turned off the MAC privacy settings that randomises the MAC address on the phones.

This seemed to work but the problem is now back again.

I've tried using just the plusnmet router connection, my eero mesh, and nothing seems to help.

Mobile connection around here is patchy it seems.  Does anyone have any ideas as I am at the point of pulling my hair out here.

@karldennis If you have no issues 'outside of the home', i.e. not on Wi-Fi calling, try turning that option off in the phones settings and see if that resolves the problem.

The mobile signal around here is rather patchy and whilst this sort of works, I cannot always get out on it on mobile alone.

OK. I'll leave it to someone with more knowledge - it was merely a suggestion.

@karldennis

It is not likely going to be a randomised MAC address issue, that would just change the devices IP Address.

Which product are you on Part or Full Fibre?

Have you by chance have the Eero connected as a router to the Hub two, this will result in double NAT which could be the cause of this issue.

Re: Using Plusnet with Three UK mobile

I've tried with the eero attached, without it attached, attached in bridging and non bridging mode, I've tried WiFi calling turned off/on, all end up with the described issues again. I think it might not be plusnet at this point but it is odd that it's only occurring at home. As soon as I'm away it doesn't happen.

I guess a wander into a three shop is called for again.

Thanks for the replies guys.

@karldennis

So to confirm, just using the Hub two WiFi with Eero disconnected WiFi calling is not working?

As a test you can force the mobile phone to use wifi calling, put the handset in 'Airplane mode' making sure WiFi is enabled.

I've used a Pixel 5 and now 7 pro with wifi calling with no issues, I doubt it is a plusnet connection issue.

You can check Hub two it has a setting >Advanced settings -> Firewall --> Configuration ---> SIP ALG

This should be the default of NO.

Are you using a VPN at all?
