Hi, I just had my new fibre connection yesterday, Openreach, FTTP. The Plusnet Two router works fine but I was previously running a Google Nest Pro mesh system that plugged in to a Virgin router which was configured to act as just a modem, or maybe a bridge?!
I did a bit of research and it seemed that with FTTP I could plug the Google Nest Pro directly into the new ONT, and not use the Plusnet Two at all, as long as I switched the WAN settings to PPPoE (currently set to DHCP). Is this correct?
When I try this with the Google Nest unit that currently plugs into the Virgin router, I can't get the Google Nest to save that change to WAN settings. The Google Home app says to make sure the ethernet cable from the Google Nest unit is unplugged and that my phone's data connection is off. And when I select PPPoE it asks for my Plusnet account name and password. I'm using username@plusdsl.net (with my username obvs) and my password for my Plusnet account. I can't see how will it verify a password if it isn't plugged into the internet? When I press save on the WAN settings I just getting the spinning yellow circle forever.
If I return the system back to the Virgin router (that internet is still currently connected) I can acces the WAN settings, it does NOT say I need to switch phone data off or unplug the ethernet cable, but still I get the spinning yellow circle forever when I press save on WAN setting changes.
Can anyone help? Am I doing this right?
If I plug my Google Nest into my Plusnet Two with an ethernet cable it seems to work fine! Should I just leave that as is? I wasn't sure if the two different WiFi networks migh interefere with each other?
Fixed! Go to the fix.

It is. I have no direct experience of the google nest but anecdotal evidence seems to point to people having difficultly setting it to PPPoE

The Nest will default to DHCP and so will work but you will have a 'double NAT' (google it) situation which is not ideal. I'd suggest that if you use the Hub 2 with the Nest in this way , then you disable the wireless on the Hub2 to prevent it interfering. There should be a 'Disable all wireless' option in the ADvanced settings for Wireless
