I'm currently using a standard Hub 2 on a FTTP installation. For various reasons, I'd like to be able to assign fixed IP addrssses to some of my hobby devices but the Hub 2 doesn't save these correctly.
I have a TP-Link Archer VR400 V3 VDSL modem/router that I used on a FTTC installation in our old house. I tried using this with the cable from the Openreach internal wall box plugged in to the LAN/WAN port of the VR400, the same as it would be for the Hub 2. This doesn't connect to the internet, although it boots up OK and broadcasts its wi-fi network. Is there anything I'm doing wrong here? Can I expect to be able to use the VR400 for this purpose?

@phil917k the VR400 should work but you will need to set it to 'Wireless router mode' first and then enter the PPPoE credentials ( see page 17 of the manual https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202008/20200817/1910012826_Archer%20VR400(EU)_UG_REV3.0.0.pdf )

Not a straight answer to the OP, but I use a Hub2 with fixed IP addresses for somewhere over 20 different devices and have had no difficulty setting them up or saving them. You should preferably be assigning in the range 1-63 and all that’s required at most is to change and save the required IP address from admin level then reboot the hub or device as appropriate. In practice it works anywhere in the IP range but I’ve no idea how long it then survives the client being offline.

I see that tag at the bottom of your contribution whilst browsing the forum.

Anyways. If you're into board games I'd suggest Bagh-chal
