Port Forwarding Does Not Work - Plusnet Protecting You From Yourself

Hi all.

I'm trying to get port 3414 open on my router. I have tried the following, but to no avail:

  1. Obtained a Static Internet Facing IP address from Plusnet
  2. Turned off router, 'my account broadband settings' and my personal AV Firewall on my PC.
  3. Assigned a static IP for my PC
  4. Added 3414 in the Port Forwarding Menu
  5. Checked to see if other ports are open after Firewalls etc are off - surprise surprise (sarcasm!), they are NOT!
  6. Added a DMZ exception for my PC - didn't work either.
  7. Added exceptions in my AV for the port and routes etc.

As you can tell, I'm at my wits end...if Plusnet's call handlers don't support this, then why even have it as options on the Router??

I've seen another thread where a PLusnet engineers here router the connection via L2TP and not PTA, IS THIS THE FIX for everyone maybe?Huh

Please respond asap, many thanks PLusnetters.

Re: Port Forwarding Does Not Work - Plusnet Protecting You From Yourself

Can anyone actually help with this?? I don't buy the Plusnet telephone call handlers 'Oh we don't support Port Forwarding'. What's the point of having it in the router's settings?

Also if I have paid for the Plusnet ISP, which I have and make changes and yet you guys don't honour them, that's theft and fraud from your backend.

PF help wouldn't be supported by many mass market ISPs.

I have port forwarding working fine and there isn't a PN restriction in place.

Which router are you using?

Ok, that's great you have PF working, but how? You have seen my above and surely all of that would solve it? I have the Plusnet Hub 1 router, white long rectangular curved thing that looks exactly like the BT Homehub 5, only white.

Here are some instructions - make sure you've created a new application for your ports.
https://portforward.com/bt/home-hub-5/

For the static ip, did you actually set it as static on your device or did you select the device to always use the same ip address in the router? It needs to be the latter.

Why does no one believe what I've done previously, mentioned in several bullet points above?Huh

Because they are bullet points, you haven't described exactly what steps you took.

And again......

And your static ip assignment and your assignment of the new application definition to that machine?

Of your manner, a little. You've come to the community for help with an acerbic tone and when another customer tries to help you answer with sarcasm?

Not the way to elicit more help is it?

Re: Port Forwarding Does Not Work - Plusnet Protecting You From Yourself

i appreciate you being an empath and detecting my frustration at the lack of useful help received from Plusnet. I believe this is down to the way Plusnet route their traffic as you can see in another post where a guy was trying to forward ports. An engineer used a different routing method to the router and hey presto, it worked. I'm telling this isn't working.
