Plusnet Hub 2 - can it be disabled on a schedule in the access controls?

Hello.

I have a plusnet hub as my router. I have the wireless turned off as I have a mesh hard wired into the router via an ethernet cable. What I would like to do is have the router effectively disable the 4 ports on the hub via a schedule. I have a DECO mesh system, in perfect world I would be able to do this at that layer. I have attached a screen shot of the router interface where I thought I could achieve this.

thank you

Brian

As far as I am aware, that is not possible.
What exactly are you trying to achieve?

Do the kids usually plug their devices into the PN Hub?

@bpascua if the mesh system is in access point mode I.e all devices are allocated IP addresses by the Hub 2 , then you can create a group covering those devices and then schedule access from the hub 2 screen you linked

Yes it is in access point mode. What I was trying to avoid is having to go and figure out the 10 - 15 IP addresses that I need to put in a group and then block, which I would assume works.

disable the 4 ports on the hub via a schedule.    ( Hub Wi-Fi is Disabled )

Given the Hub Wi-Fi is OFF will disabling the 4 ports not have about the same effect
as powering the VM Hub OFF using a mains timer

Are you sure you also wish to be without internet ?

I've not used it myself, but I think you can just select devices from the hub 2 device list and add them to the group

one other question. when you are in the access controls trying to choose your IP addresses - is there a way to make that window bigger or sort by IP address? I must have 100's of IPs in there...

@bpascua

You've not mentioned if you are Part or Full Fibre.

In both cases it will be possible to set your Mesh as the router and use the missing functions caused by Mesh being in Access point mode.

For Part Fibre (SoGEA/FTC) the hub two needs to be configured to bridge mode - mesh WAN connects to a LAN port

For Full Fibre the hub two needs removing. mesh WAN connects directly to the ONT

In both cases the mesh would be setup with a PPPoE internet connection.

A word of warning, new devices can use randomised MAC addresses, it is very easy to give a device a new MAC address which would bypass any filtering you put in place as you'll be chasing an ever changing IP Address.

Edit: With the deco you should be able to setup a whitelist of devices, so only permissioned MAC addresses can connect.

Blimey - I think I might just get a mechanical timer and knock out my main mesh node each night!

I would check to see there is scheduler for reboots and wifi access within the mesh system itself
