@Dan_the_Van Thanks, those were the messages I was referring to. Just don't seem to remember them popping up on other event logs I have seen with such a regular pattern, but I suppose as I am usually looking for different events - via the filter - I could have missed them.

@woodchipchris This is a new one to me ill be honest, I've never known one of our hubs to have a mysterious high pitched beeping sound.
Checked your connectivity and i cant see any terminations in connection. Line test is all green and all other health checks passed. There should be no reason for this beeping sound at all from what I've seen and done so far.
If we're sure there are no other devices within the vicinity of the router that could be making this beeping sound, we could try a new hub just incase it is the hub. If the beeping persists after a new hub then we've ruled that part out essentially.
Let me know if you want to try a new hub and ill get it ordered for you.
All the best

As I've said already - I haven't heard any beeping either - but that is because of hearing loss and not because there is no beeping. My daughter, who is the one to comment on this has now returned to the Welsh Valleys and so:
a) I'll not be able to tell whether a new router solves the problem and
b) It's not going to worry me anyway because I can't hear it!
It does all sound far more likely to me that it is something else. Most beepers seem to have a very capable ventriloquist capability and it sounds very much as though the hub doesn't HAVE a beeper anyway.
Now, the thing you could do to REALLY make me happy would be to install some nice cable down our street. Virgin have done it but I really don't want to go to Virgin.

Do you have a Sky box by chance? I ask because I had one that would beep if it was overheating.

Every now and then, yes. It still says what it has said for some time - "We're building in this area now". Which is encouraging ...

I guess that's better than "we have no plans currently for your area"
If you are serviced by an overhead feed keep an eye on the pole - it'll get a CBT added to serve FTTP. If you have an underground feed your chamber will get a similiar unit but you need to see OR at work to know it's there.

It's interesting (at least, to an elderly nerd like me). When they built this estate, some 55 years ago, all of the copper cable was buried - but just in bare earth - no conduit. For the subsequent 55 years, whenever there has been a problem (and problems are fairly frequent and generally happen just after a re-surfacing team have been at work), they have to dig up a section of road/pathway.
Virgin have recently been around the whole (one-road) estate, digging up the path and installing their cable - and a terminal to each property. Presumably OR will come and repeat this process with THEIR cable, even though there is now a conduit laid, ready and waiting.
For communications companies, there is precious little sign of communicating between themselves!

My understanding from talking to Openreach bods is that whilst Altnet’s can use Openreach ducts, Openreach are not allowed to use Altnet’s.

Potentially what you say is bad news for OR FTTP any time soon. While they may be working in your area they have been known to "de-scope" work if it's too complicated and / or costly.
I don't see them digging up roads etc any time soon, especially as Virgin have just done it.
You could find a roadworks information page and keep an eye out for any OR street works in your neighbourhood. I don't have a link to hand - got one somewhere but where is the question.

We had what is now Virgin dig up our paths 10 years (??) ago. Last year, Giganet did the same thing. Round 3 = BT will happen next year I believe!
I suspect that BT won't 'flood the area', but will more likely install on demand (yes, my phone line is also in the soil!)
