Plusnet 2 Beeping

My Plusnet 2 router keeps beeping.  It beeps occasionally (?once or twice a day? I don't really know - my elderly ears don't hear it but my young and active guests have been complainbing of the noise!)

A)  Why is it beeping?

B)  How do I stop it?

C)  May this have anything to do with the fact that my Zoom calls keep dropping out with  "unreliable internet access" messages.

Re: Plusnet 2 Beeping

@woodchipchris A Hub2 beeping - that's a new one on me. 😁. How old is it? Can you export your event log and attach the resulting csv file to a post, please?

Re: Plusnet 2 Beeping

Here's the .csv.

I really can't remember when you sent me this router, I'm afraid.

If you tell me that the router has no beep - then presumably it isn't the router - but there is nothing else in that room that (I think!) CAN beep.  As I said, with my hearing loss, I don't hear high pitched noises - my daughter says it beeps for something under 60 seconds.  When she hears it, she rushes to the room to try to idendify it - but it stops too soon.  She tells me that it "comes from where the router is".

Re: Plusnet 2 Beeping

@woodchipchris Apart from all your mobile devices disconnecting/reconnecting for whatever reason, there is no discernable reason for the 'noise'

As I have never seen or used an actual Hub2, I honestly can't comment further

I don't work for Plusnet, like you I am just a Community member - who tries to help when/if I can.

@Dan_the_Van  - any thoughts (I have noticed he 'PERIODIC' entries, but I can't remember their significance).

Re: Plusnet 2 Beeping

Sorry if this is a silly suggestion but:   Is there a smoke/fire alarm near the router... when the battery in these runs down they beep regularly to alert you to the need to change the battery...  just a thought!!

Re: Plusnet 2 Beeping

Not a silly suggestion.  I've been had that way before.  But in this case, no!

@woodchipchris

If it's an older ONT could it have an internal battery backup unit which beeps to say the batteries need changing.

Something like this

@bmc The OP hasn't said he is on FTTP - and I'm willing to hazard a guess he isn't.

Re: Plusnet 2 Beeping

ONT is, I think, only relevant when there is fibre to my house.  I'm still on copper for the last leg.  (Or is that a native runner with a cleft stick?)

Re: Plusnet 2 Beeping

Thanks, @woodchipchris - I somehow thought so. Your event log said so, anyway, but it's good to have it confirmed.

Correct - although I don't think they use cleft sticks any more - they've advanced to pouches. 😁

Re: Plusnet 2 Beeping

Remember my original post.  I don't hear high pitch sounds - that video is virtually silent to me!  But Daughter says it is definitely beeping.

I was out yesterday, in answer to "any thoughts (I have noticed he 'PERIODIC' entries, but I can't remember their significance)"

I assume you are referring to these messages

They are the Hub sending 'I am here' messages every 24 hours, these are to maintain the device registration to the CWMP/TR069 server

@woodchipchris

I note your DSL connection is very stable with a good speed.

I am not sure the Hub has a speaker to make the bleep sound, I do recall the Hub One had a habit of making a sound but unsure what the cause was, it could have been a vibrating component. I think plusnet replaced the Hub in those cases.
