Line error stats - Plusnet Hub Two

How can I get the Hub Two to report line error stats, including FEC and CRC? I can't find these anywhere in the web UI.

Re: Line error stats - Plusnet Hub Two

Yeah, that's not really good enough. I was previously with Vodafone, and the line error stats were extremely useful in pinpointing the source of the fault on the line - namely the drop wire. When it got windy the error count went sky high, and there were also frequent disconnections.

If I've no way of accessing the line stats, how am I meant to figure out if the line is causing problems? Am I supposed to phone plusnet and get them to tell me, or just trust that the tech support person I get on the phone has a clue???

Not really sure there is an expectation by plusnet for you to diagnose line issues although any evidence of a problem would be welcome.

The Hub One which preceded the Two also did not provide FEC and CRC errors.

Maybe considered buying your own modem which provides your required data.

Dslstats, or equivalent, with a suitable modem/router will give you more than enough stats to worry about….

I get that, but the stats are available - Plusnet has chosen to just hide them from the web UI. I get that most users won't understand them, but for those that do, they should be available somewhere. Apart from anything else, when I file a fault on the line, the first thing tech support will do is ask me to connect the Plusnet router!

@andrum99

The Plusnet Hub 2 is a rebadged BT Smarthub 2 with slightly modified firmware. Neither gives you full line stats. It is not the case of the data being 'hidden', it just isn't provided as it's not seen as being required by the vast majority of users.

One option that I used when I was on FTTC was to keep an unlocked Huawei HG612 modem, just in case I ever needed to look at the stats. By removing the the DSL lead from the Hub 2 and connecting it to the HG612, then connecting the HG612 output to the Hub WAN input, I had full access.
