Hub2 Router Scheduling

Hi,

How do I generically stop my Hub 2 Router (ideally wifi only) from accessing the internet during certain times? I tried the online guide but it assumes I want to block by device (I dont) and its not clear from the example used if I am setting the BLOCKED times or the ACCESSIBLE time.

To put it another way, how do I block all internet access from 8pm to 8am weekdays?

Re: Hub2 Router Scheduling

@jamieford I dont use a Hub 2 myself but AIUI You can create a group of devices , or use the default group for all devices, and then block access using a schedule.

The times you enter are the period for which access is blocked,

so for your example blocking 8pm to 8am you will need two blocking periods

12:00am to 08:00am and 08:00pm to 12:00pm

NB not sure about the 12:00pm , it may need to be 11:59pm or maybe 12:00am

Useful info here https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/router-user-guides/hub-two/

Re: Hub2 Router Scheduling

You can create a group of devices , or use the default group for all devices, and then block access using a schedule.

You can circumvent this by modifying the devices MAC Address, refreshed MAC results in a new IP Address.

 Many new devices employ MAC address randomisation. This is the same device.

Once the device IP changes it drops from the group.

Edit: You can add the second device to be included to the group

Does it drop from the default group ?

Buy a timeswitch, set it to power the router off at night?

Re: Hub2 Router Scheduling

Thanks guys;

- Two things I have learnt is that Hub2 Support from Plusnet is rubbish and the firmware flakey!

- I sort of managed to get it to schedule, but then there are always exeptions to the rules required and is just a faff

- If I disable the wifi then I cant even log in anymore to enable it! I used my TV in my last place as that was connected via Ethernet but even that is Wifi now!

- The schedules for each group is limited to two!, so I have had to setup two groups to allow me to set 4 schedules

- However, despite setting up and saving the schedule for group 2 exactly as I did for group one, including the same devices - it either doesnt save the devices I have added or is doesnt show them all; very inconsistant and leave me confused and bewildered as to whether they are setup or not

- I have considererd to remotely turn the power off and have even resorted to flipping the main power switch to the house!

How are we suposed to work with such rubbish or am I missing something?

All I want to do is block the same devices between a certain time on two days .. nothing more nothing less and I haves wasted hours and hours. Can anyone help?

...can you tell I am frustrated ;-0

@jamieford

PN is a basic value internet provider who provide a router which works for most customers. If you want bells and whistles then you are free to use your own equipment. PN supply the required settings in their Help pages.

Re: Hub2 Router Scheduling

I follow their advice vor groups, but is consitantly not remebering (or showing) the devices for group 2.

Does the devices in each group need to be different to another group? i.e. I cant have the same laptop in two groups?
