Hub one Router Ghz signal strength

I have a Plusnet  Hub One router that should connect to my 6 month old smart tv, solar panels and new smart phone.   My solar panel engineer asked me to check if the Hub One router runs at a minimum of 2.4 Ghz and if not I probably would need a new router.   Sometimse the smart TV running on Sky informs me "no internet connection" but after a while manage to get it connected again.    The solar panel program me does not seem to be connecting via wifi.    I am 80 years old and very confused about all of this.    Could a check be made to see if my router is strong enough to accept all three and maybe more or do I need to upgrade to a more powerful router.    Or could my existing router settings be checked for problems.   Who should I contact to help me solve the problems.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Bain Yes, the Hub1 has both 2.4 and 5Ghz wireless bands - your solar panel engineer obviously has limited knowledge about routers.

@Bain How old is the router? For information, the 2.4Ghz he was on about is nothing to do with 'efficiency', it is the frequency it operates on.

OK. Out of interest, do you have anyone younger who could help you, as I suspect - with respect, that at 80 any suggestions I could make make, like splitting the 2.4/5Ghz bands, which would enable the solar panels controller to connect wirelessly may be a little confusing?

I will point a couple of people who have more insight into Plusnet routers than me to this topic, in the hope that they can help you.

No there is no-one here that I can call on to help out with this.    I can however download a signal analyzer strength to check the signal first.    As I am also with plusnet house phone services I am wondering whether it would be worth while moving over to BT home phone and broadband  as I believe my home phone connection will be fading out soon.   I am already with BT mobile phone services.

It was just a thought. A signal analyser won;t help you in this situation, unfortunately -signal strength is not the issue here.

Given that you say there is no-one you can call on, I suggest you wait and see if either of those other Community members I have tagged above, or others,  can give you further advice. I am no longer with Plusnet, and have no experience with the current PN Hubs, only what I have picked up on these forums over time.

Do you know whether the solar panel control unit can be connected by an ethernet cable ?

A direct ethernet cable to the router would be far preferable than WiFi for reliability.

Likewise, how close is your smart TV to the router ?, as using an ethernet cable would improve reliability, and leave more available WiFi bandwidth for your other wirelessly connected devices.

Not at the moment.   I am reviewing my options whether to switch to BT broadband, home phone etc.

After making these enquiries I will decide whether to stay with Plusnet or not.

I am not going to ethernet connect my solar panels as they are only one year old and I dont want the engineer to mess around with them.
