Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

What will solve your problems is going into the router settings and turning off the 5ghz signal. You'll never get a WiFi drop out relating to this issue again 😄
The only better suppliers would possibly be BT,. Virgin or Smarty (SIM card and buy a SIM router £70+)

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

@SpecialD The whole point of this entire conversation is to get the 5ghz channel working properly. 5ghz wifi is common place now and should work without any issues on a modern router, and is the faster option for most modern devices. Telling people to just turn off 5ghz and use the slower outdated 2.4ghz channel totally defeats the purpose of what we're discussing here. People know that turning off 5ghz stops the drop outs, but we don't want 5ghz turned off, we want to use it...that's the whole point.

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

Hello @bobpullen

I've spent some time reading through this thread and I'm 100% confident I'm experiencing this same issue.

It started last week, when none of my devices could connect to the 5GHz band anymore. Splitting the wireless into 2.4 and 5 helped, as I could connect all of them to the 2.4GHz instead.

I've called customer services but they had no clue this issue existed so they just made me reset the hub, which fixed the issue until today.

Any chance you can push the update through for me too?

Thanks!

Thanks @bobpullen. Unfortunately it’s not made any difference. Wifi still dropping out randomly and frequently.
I’ve ordered a BT HH6 from eBay so hopefully that’ll see me through to the end of my contract with PlusNet and then I can move to a better supplier.

Are you confident you have a Wi-Fi issue? What exactly are the symptoms? Does the LED on the front of the router change colour durin gthe times you're experiencing difficulties?

Your underlying Internet connection has been dropping:-

Session Started	Session Ended	Session Duration

09/11/2020 21:37	11/11/2020 09:48 One Day, 12:11:21

That shows at least 9 physical drops in the last week or so (three yesterday).

Assuming this isn't you intentionally rebooting the router each time then you could have a problem with the line, rather than the router.

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

I also have 5GHz issues. Every few days both my download and upload speeds drop by 50% requiring a re-boot. Everything is OK on 2.4GHz band.

Would the update help with this please.

I'm new to the community so apologies if I've posted in the wrong place 🙂

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

Good day,

Over three weeks since rebooting to .273 and all is still working well with my particular setup.

Again,

Many thanks.

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

Is it possible that the phone, if it is also wifi, is too close to the router, or some other wirless interference in close proximity

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

No, Mort7890. It's not a wi-fi phone. Anyway, the problem still persists when I have my laptop right next to the router, thereby excluding interference from other sources. Rebooting solves the problem for a few days then it's back again (just like most people by the look of it!) Thanks for you help.

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

My reply was meant for @Jooster as an add on to a reply received from @bobpullen and not you @delboy73 as you need to contact @bobpullen with your details for the update.

Cheers Bob, I'll do just that with regards to the 5GHz SSID.

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

@bobpullen I'm having the same 5Ghz issues with my Hub One. Are you able to arrange a FW update for me? Not sure how to go about this. Thank you.

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

Hi @bobpullen.

Thanks for the reply. It was probably me manually rebooting it. I haven’t switched it off since Sunday night so it would be interesting to see if the line has dropped since then. The wifi certainly has, but there have been no lights on the router (other than the normal blue connection light).

Plusnet sent an Openreach engineer the other week to fix a bridge tap on the line, so I’m assuming there are no other faults on the line now.
