Help with Issue 'You seem to be using Proxy or VPN'. Do I change the IP to either STATIC of DYNAMIC?

Hi ,I'm hoping someone can help me.

I have been subscribing to Viki (a video-on-demand streaming service) the past 4 years with no issues and suddenly I can't view anything. I get this popup 'You seem to be using Proxy or VPN'.

I don't have a VPN or Proxy connected. I have a static IP address with Plusnet. I've reset the router, have cleared Viki data & cache. I have a static IP address with Plusnet.

What do I try next?

I usually watch Viki via my mobile phone or smart TV which connects either:

  1. directly to my home router/Wi-Fi or
  2. home router/wi-fi > via T-P link (signal extender, I have 2 in the house).
Nothing has changed my end that I am aware of and I am only having the Proxy/VPN issue with Viki.

If I connect to my mobile network service it works perfectly (But I don't have unlimited data so this is not an option).

What do I do?

  1. Do I change my Routers (?) STATIC IP address to a DYNAMIC IP? If yes, how do I do this?
  2. Or do I change this for each individual device?
     -  In the router manager I see my mobile phone is listed 3 times under IPv4 devices, each with a
different PRIVATE IP ADDRESS & MAC ADDRESS
        DHCP Server:
           - Enables: YES,
           - Authoritative DHCP: ON,
           - Server Address Range ....1.64  - ....1.253
       etc.
    - If I check the mobile phone wi-fi settings it is DYNAMIC.

I just don't have a clue what to do to get reconnected to Viki.

Appreciate your help.

@magpie7975

Appreciate your help.

You contact Viki and complain that they are incorrectly detecting your public IP as being a proxy or VPN.

Do I change my Routers (?) STATIC IP address to a DYNAMIC IP? If yes, how do I do this?

You can't, the static IP is associated with your account, there's no setting on the router.

Or do I change this for each individual device?

Devices only get allocated 'private' IP addresses which aren't visible to the internet. Every device will present your public IP to the outside world.
