Hi

Since joining PlusNet a few months ago I have been unable to access my CCTV remotely.

I tried to enable port forwarding as below but not working - any help appreciated !

Re: Help needed to get my CCTV available via remote connection

@hemingwayj welcome to the community

Looking at the rules they do look correct assuming the correct ports have been used.

There was a Broadband Account Firewall at one time which is worth checking it is to Low or Off. The option may now be missing but it is worth checking to outrule this firewall

Login into the members centre https://www.plus.net/member-centre/broadband/firewall

or Navigate from Home >Broadband >Broadband Fire (lower right)

The Hub Two has an event log which is worth checking found >Home >Advanced settings >Technical log >Event log

If you select category "Firewall" this will filter out other messages.

When using a port scanner like https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/  test one of the port forward rule, you should see an incoming message from either 104.18.2.126 or 104.18.3.126 to the tested port.

The scanner uses your current public IP address.

EDIT: You are able to connect to the camera's locally? Which camera model and app are you using?

Re: Help needed to get my CCTV available via remote connection

Many thanks for the help so far!

I have checked the ports before and again today and they all still come back as closed.
I cant connect to my camera locally either.

I use ANNKE kit and their app

I could not get to the firewall settings via your link but did look on the hub itself.  it is set to default.

I noticed a Dmz zone so added my cctv to that to see if using the static ip helped but still unable to connect.

Re: Help needed to get my CCTV available via remote connection

Do you have individual camaras to connect to or a NVR.

When you moved internet providers have you reset the ANNKE equipment to the new plusnet router IP address range?

If my link did not work would suggest your account does not have a account based firewall, which what I expected.

Are you using DDNS for your external connection?

Should be no need to use the DMZ.

Re: Help needed to get my CCTV available via remote connection

Hi
Connection is via a DVR. I set this up on the new router connection after moving to PlusNet and my plus net router shows activity against it but I can’t connect to the IP or app via WiFi or 5g
Not using DDNS
Thanks for any further help

Re: Help needed to get my CCTV available via remote connection

What is your broadband provision, Part Fibre (FTTC/SoGEA copper to property) Hub using DSL connection or Full Fibre Hub WAN port connected to an Openreach ONT?

There are only THREE LAN ports on a Hub Two the port next to the DC power socket being used as a WAN only connection.

Are you able to connect locally using a screen keyboard/mouse to the DVR (not via an IP Address) to check the configuration?

Some more detail on the cameras and DVR model would helpful.

Re: Help needed to get my CCTV available via remote connection

Hi
I am on full fibre with HubTwo.
Pictures of connections included.
Red one is from BT socket and the other goes out to my powerline adaptor which has a receiving power line next to my DVR this DVR connects via Ethernet cable from that.

I am able to get to my DVR setting as it’s linked to a TV
I will take some pics of that but there a tonne of settings so bare with me thanks

Probably just the network settings will be sufficient

Re: Help needed to get my CCTV available via remote connection

Fix

The default gateway should be that of the Hub, which unless you've changed it will be 192.168.1.254

Re: Help needed to get my CCTV available via remote connection

but if its set for DHCP

DHCP (IPV4)

then why isnt it getting the gateway address ?

@hemingwayj is there any possibility of connecting the DVR directly to the Hub , just to eliminate the powerlines ?
