Have dial tone but no internet

 Is that the only telephone socket in the house? If there are other socket(s) there should be wires connected to the back of the lower half of the front plate which you have removed and the other socket(s) should be totally dead.

To confirm: your photo shows you are already using the test socket - point of that is that if you have other sockets they will be disconnected.
