Do I need a new router cable?

Every time the wire that connects my hub two to the phone socket it loses connection and flashes orange- do I need another wire or is it a router problem?

@HughesMum Sorry, don't quite get your question - every time what happens? If you get an orange light - how often? - then it suggests a network, not cable, issue.

@HughesMum

Have you just joined PN or been with them for a while?

If the latter, is this a recent problem?

@HughesMum As I suspect your understanding of computers is, shall we say, low, I suggest you follow the instructions in this link: https://www.plus.net/help/report-a-problem/ , and report back what they say.

Maybe an understanding of what "Flashing Orange" means should be considered

Flashing orange light - Your hub is working but the broadband signal can’t be detected
Check if the broadband cable (grey ends) is plugged in. If you're using a filter, check that's plugged in correctly too.

Although not clear from the question, maybe the cable is falling out of either the Hub or Phone socket, if the cable is secure then there could be a line fault which maybe the cause of the light flashing orange.

This being the case reporting the issue to plusnet would be the best next step.
