Not always possible - depends on the layout of your home. I certainly couldn't do it.

Re: Connecting Humax FVP 5000T to new Hub Two router

After a few Google searches I found a WiFi specification…

The FVP-5000T uses Wi-Fi b/g/n (20/40MHz) and Wi-Fi a, n(20/40MHz), ac(20/40/80MHz)

That suggests it should work on either band.

Re: Connecting Humax FVP 5000T to new Hub Two router

Many thanks for all the feedback and advice you’ve all provided on this issue.  I have to say I’ve been very impressed with speed of response and the quality of information given.
Taking into account everyone’s suggestions I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s not worth pursuing this any further.  The Humax is currently being used largely as a recording facility and a digital interface to an old Panasonic TV that has excellent picture quality.  I can forego its internet connectivity and rely instead on a Google ChromeCast device for all streaming content.

Thanks again for all you help.

As a salve to the situation, you could consider configuring the HUB One as WAP and connect the Humax to that by WiFi.

or using powerline adaptors to facilitate a wired connection without having an ethernet cable between rooms.

@outcast

Equally good, though needs investment in more kit, which is why yesterday I did not mention it, having considered it.

Not all powerline adapters are as good as each other - some can be quite "unhelpful" towards VDSL signals.  I have used Devolo kit with good results, but they are not cheap!

Re: Connecting Humax FVP 5000T to new Hub Two router

I've probably got more than ten Devolo various style 200 and 500 adaptors (used before I ran ethernet to WAPs with LAN sockets in each corner of the house), but currently down to using three Devolo 500's to reach outbuildings.

Yes they're not cheap to buy new, but I bought all mine on eBay - often for 99p when there were no other bidders !

Regarding VDSL, I avoided using a powerline adaptor anywhere near my modem to eliminate the possibility of radiated RFI on the modem or incoming landline cable,  instead ran a 5m ethernet cable (between carpet and skirting board) to the next nearest mains socket, where my master powerline adaptor is plugged in.  I thoroughly tested whether the powerline RF signal in the mains wiring has any effect on my modem line stats and error rates, and in my setup there is no indication of any interference.
