Just to be clear, does this happen regardless of the password you are trying to use? i.e. if you try changing it to some other random collection of 11 characters, do you have any more success?

Have you tried using a different web browser to change the password?

ex-Plusnet (ADSL, FTTC) 2008-2023. now BT (FTTP) 2023-

fwiw, have you tried using a totally different device, such as web browser on smartphone or tablet?

Since curing the problem I have reverted to the new router you sent to me. This was because I could not get a stable internet connection. Now all ok with new router.
