Asus DSL-AX82U Router not connecting to Internet

A week ago, we upgraded to full fibre broadband.

Ever since then I have tried to get my Asus DSL-AX82U Router to work again.

It worked perfectly before the upgrade.

I followed lots of advice and tips in the Plusnet Forums and online, even bought a new cable.

As soon I connect our old Plusnet router with the same ethernet cable I use with the Asus router, it connects straight away to the internet.

I must have hard reset the router at least 10 times. Nothing works.

I have been in contact with Asus’s support, but they just tell me I must get in touch with my ISP to get the correct settings.

Apart from filling in the broadband username, password and changing the wan connection type to PPPoE, what other settings should I use or change?

I am very grateful for any help.

Make sure you have the @plusdsl.net suffix in the username.

Make sure that 802.1Q is set to disable

That screen dump shows 802.1Q is enabled, you need to select the 'No'  box

Are there any other settings I need to change?

 

When I looked for the internet settings, there seems to be no difference in the settings for broadband and fibre broadband on PlusNet.  

 

User Name                             xxxxx@plusdsl.net

Password                               xxxxx

WAN Connection Type          PPPoE

VLAN Active

VLAN ID (802.1q)  101

VLAN ID (802.1p)  0

 

To be able to access the Asus router setup page I need to unplug the RJ45 cable from the Plusnet Hub router and connect it to the Asus router‌ and start a new connection again, every time. Not easy, very frustrating and time consuming. 🙄 ☹️ 🙈

Those are the settings for FTTC ( fibre to the cabinet ) confusing called Unlimited Fibre. According to your first post you have Full Fibre ( FTTP )  Is that correct ?

FTTP does not require  Vlan ID and will not work if one is enabled

This is all quite confusing,

The settings I posted I have got from PlusNet’s website.

And yes, we have full fibr74 now.

I have 802.1Q set to disable.

@riatoms - you're connecting an ethernet cable between the blue WAN port on the Asus and a LAN port on the Openreach ONT, yes? Without the Plusnet hub connected anywhere and without anything plugged into the DSL socket on the Asus?

The WAN type in your latest screeshot is incorrect. You have it configured as DSL/VDSL. You do not have an xDSL connection as you are on full fibre. I'll see if I can dig out my Asus hub and provide you with the settings I have there...

Edit: my settings are attached. It's a different model that doesn't have an integrated DSL modem so I'll be missing some of the options you have. It's set up to work with full fibre/FTTP though so hopefully gives you some clues to work with.

@riatoms following g on from @bobpullen s post. On your model I believe you need to select 'ethernet' from the wan type drop down and then configure the wan settings

Yes, I am connecting an ethernet cable between the blue WAN port on the Asus and a LAN port on the Openreach ONT, without the Plusnet hub connected anywhere and with nothing plugged into the DSL socket on the Asus.
