Re: Upgrade from ADSL to Fibre - unexplained delays

As you said previously, @Townman , this needs an aware provisioning team member to explain - IMO there are weird vibes from the initial response.

@Townman  The premium connection service does not seem relevant in this situation, what we don't know is what a premium site visit might be, never heard of it before.🤔

Re: Upgrade from ADSL to Fibre - unexplained delays

My guess from reading your documentation is that Openreach havent got fiber to your pole yet, so isnt a "basic" install. Might even be that pole is marked "do not climb" and therefor requires a cherry picker. Or possibly just deemed a two person job.

If the 11th rolls past and you have nothing then Id be concerned

@iannewson The BTW checker shows FTTP as 'available' - my understanding is that that status is not shown until CBT is installed and confirmed as working.

Your splitting hairs.  I still suggest for WHATEVER reason its a job for a specialist and not the run of the mill Kellys/Openreach engineer.  My point on the pole being do not climb still stands

If you say so, but the evidence presented so far is murky at best, and until PN can get an explanation from OR, we are in the dark.

Re: Upgrade from ADSL to Fibre - unexplained delays

Prior to my Full Fibre installation I looked into the options provided by openreach, if I recall the reference to Premium installation was the Fibre cable run is more than 15m of external cable to reach the customer’s preferred fibre entry point.

Has it been considered if the property is set back from the road or if the local telegraph pole actually has the CBT is a second telegraph pole is required to reach the local CBT? I seen this near to where I live.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Upgrade from ADSL to Fibre - unexplained delays

Thanks everyone for all your engagement on my enquiry.
The pole is about 15m away at a guess and I don't know if it is fibre enabled.
There is a sycamore tree in the way that has the potential for snagging if that makes any difference - they grow at an incredible speed.

Update:

Today I received a text message from Openreach as below:

"Hi, Openreach on behalf of Plusnet.

We have received your order to install Full Fibre broadband at address ending XXX. We will be in touch shortly to confirm your appointment date. No further action is needed from you at the moment."

So that is encouraging. I'm hoping that the flurry of confusing comms is just down to some internal systems going through the motions.

Re: Upgrade from ADSL to Fibre - unexplained delays

@swervo Does the tree currently affect your current line? If not, there shouldn't be an issue with the Full Fibre line - it will follow the exact same route.

BTW - you are currently on FTTC, not ADSL.

Re: Upgrade from ADSL to Fibre - unexplained delays

@swervo

Is there a CBT at the top of the pole?

Fibre follows the route of the current copper cable to the house. They may replace in during the FF install or it could be left. If you want it gone ask and see what they say.

My neighbours overhead fibre is about 60m to the pole, and goes via 'knotted to an electricity pole' and 'threaded through a pine tree'.  As did the copper (which is still there).

'Premium' would make sense if someone wanted an excessive fibre run over that necessary for the job, eg to run round the back or into a server farm in their shed (LOL) and needed a 60m not 15m length ?

But to get to that you'd have to be surveyed or fail installation .... chicken & egg
