Texts from Openreach genuine?

I am due to have my broadband service switched on tomorrow. There is a line here so no engineer has to come round. Plusnet did not advise me that I would contacted by Openreach and I now have received two texts from them Openreach. Plusnet have said not to plug in the router until broadband confirmed activated. These texts apparently from Openreach say I have to plug in the router before 8am so they can activate the line remotely. It appears to come from a number listed on the Openreach website and contains half my postcode and the correct activation date but I still am not sure if it genuine. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks in advance.

@ksgreen  is this a Full Fibre (FTTP) install ? and do you already have an ONT ?

@ksgreen  Welcome to the Community forums.

I have no idea if the txts are genuine but no harm will come from the hub being switched on early, it will just settle with a constant orange light. If you get a text from Plusnet telling you that the service is active and the light is still orange then simply switch the hub off, leave it a minute then back on.

@Baldrick1  if its an FTTP remote activation with existing ONT then OR will want to make sure the ONT is powered.

I'm so sorry but I don't know. How am I able to find out?

Thank you very much, this has really helped. I will just plug it in then.

You must know what product you ordered from Plusnet, surely?
