Re: Switched to PlusNet but old connection still active AND have got charged. Also - reward card?

@Mr_Paul Found out its 35p per minute. So ideally, I'm hoping that someone from PN might come on here and offer to help. If not, I guess I'll just have to contact them myself. I had no idea that my choices would be the cause but at least I know why now!

@hwq1972 Unfortunately, in your situation, this is not PN's responsibility. As @MisterW  said, YOU will have to contact TT.

Talk Talk calls to their help desk are free, or there are other ways to contact them.

But @hwq1972 is no longer a TT customer, so they will be charged at the same rate (35p/min?) as anyone else?

Actually, sorry @Mustrum - he is, at the moment.

I have had the same issues as OP - TT hasn't been cancelled as I expected as PN says I didn't choose to terminate my phone line (which I thought I had). Anyway, you can get TT to call you back if you start a live chat, tell them you want to cancel and then they give you an am or pm slot for them to call you within 48 hours instead of being on hold forever and being directed to the wrong department endlessly.

Re: Switched to PlusNet but old connection still active AND have got charged. Also - reward card?

Thanks for this - ever since I saw this reply, I have been trying to contact them on the livechat.

I firstly couldnt get the chat working, but disabling my adblock did the trick, then I did set up a chat for the afternoon, but they called me in the morning instead, so I wasn't available to take that call, then I arranged a follow-up, which didn't happen at all, so third time lucky eh!

They seem quick to take the £££ but trying to close an account? It's hard.

They never actually called me either! I called them in the end and it took over 30mins to actually cancel as they kept trying to persuade me to stay.

Re: Switched to PlusNet but old connection still active AND have got charged. Also - reward card?

@Gill360739 Hi. Thanks for your reply there, wish my response was as swift Smiley

I did get a call from TT on Saturday morning but as someone else took the call and in the time it took me to go downstairs and take over the call, they hung up!!! So I had no option but to call them back - mine wasn't quite as bad as yours - just the 15 minutes! But they did do the same, giving me the hard sell about why I did not call them and they would do an all in 1 package for the equivalent price charged by PN. My TT contract ran out in 2013, so they've had just the 10 years to be offering me incentives to stay!

They also said it would be a further 30 days from the time of the call before they could cancel which means 1 month's unwanted charge from TT plus 6 days into the next one!! I understand the 30 days must be a standard thing but what the hell takes so long?! I did say I thought this was unfair and they told me that I should ask PN about paying this bill! I can't think I would get anywhere with that and wonder if it was worth asking OFCOM. I changed mainly to save £ but at the moment it's costing me much more.
